Publisher's summary

When Juno Browne returns to the picturesque Dartmoor town of Ashburton after a brief holiday, she’s relieved to find that no one has been murdered while she was away. Though uncharitable friends suggest the quiet was simply due to her absence. Just as she’s settling back into her routine at the antiques shop and as domestic helper and dog walker, the brutal killing of local journalist Sandy Thomas shocks the town.

When it becomes clear that' one of Juno’s friends has managed to catch the killing on camera, Juno is swept up into a fresh murder inquiry. What was Sandy really investigating on the night she was killed? With a spate of dog kidnappings to contend with as well, the Devon countryside never felt less tranquil, and inevitably means Juno’s amateur sleuthing skills will be called upon once again...

Worst book I ever tried to listen to

Books 1 through 5 are great with wonderful narrators in this Devon Mysteries Series. This book, #6 Death Comes to Dartmoor was horrible. I tried to listen to it 3 different times. The narration is terrible. The voice is like chalk scratching a board. Also the voice does not fit the character Juno.
Jilly Bond makes Juno sound as though she is in her 80’s. ALL wrong !! Also, the plot was very poor compared to the previous books. Human trafficking, animal abuse , and poor narration. What on earth were the writer and editors thinking of ???
I returned for a refund . If a book #7 comes out i will definitely use much scrutiny in researching it before purchasing!

I have liked this author/book series...but

The ghastly narration takes away from the whimsical storyline and makes me wonder if I'm listening to the same author at all?

Having been a visitor to many of the places mentioned in these stories, Dartmoor, Okehampton, Tavistock, Paignton, Torquay and more, I was truly looking forward to book 7 and pre-ordered it with delivery date of tomorrow here in the USA. Too late I see that the same narrator will be reading this book, and I'm a bit on the fence about starting it at all.

I did research to see how many other books this narrator has performed and was surprised to see a great number books. So maybe just not my style, and as it is winter, I should just get the book and read it myself? All I know is that I will be listening to every book preview from now on before making a purchase or a pre-order.
