Publisher's summary

A favor owed, a hunt like no other.

A courier for the shadow world no more, Aileen's former protection is gone. Alone but still defiant, she survives one night at a time. Sure, working a dead-end job isn't part of every young vampire's dreams, but it pays the bills.

When the darkly seductive Liam calls in a favor, she'll find her carefully constructed world tilting on its axis as he draws her into a dangerous game against a wily enemy. The High Fey - creatures as powerful and beautiful as they are deadly - have come to town, their motivations unclear as lines are drawn and shadowy alliances made.

And with them, they bring their Wild Hunt where everyone is either predator or prey. Betrayed and marked as its quarry, Aileen will find surviving until dawn has never been this hard.

The only thing that might save her - are the vampires she doesn't trust.

Some sexy times!

We finally have romance, folks! And I gotta say it was worth the wait. Reading this series back to back makes me feel like my reviews are repetitive. I loved everything about this book for the same reasons I loved the first three, with a few additions. First, the romance finally kicked in and second, we learned more about Aileen and what she can do. Which is pretty cool btw. I'm still hungry for more. It's going to be a struggle to wait for book 5.

I want more…

I really like T.A White’s writing and I love Aileen, but sometimes she is a bit on the immature side. I get her being mad, but she never says why to anybody. So how can they fix it if they don’t know what the problem is. I am excited to see what she gets up to as a private eye. Her relationship with Liam progresses, I was starting to wonder when it would. Aileen’s mom is a piece of work, can’t wait to see what she finds out about her real dad. Narrator is good, she does snarky great.

I can't forget the bad, though there is much good

Ailene gives a great performance with super new gifts. What she can't do, she works around and her good character garners her many friends in a generally hostile society. The thing that, unfortunately, destroys her dignity and character is her self abuse. She treats herself like irredeemable trash, along with others, in a profound way. So it is, even when she thinks she is fighting for her dignity by narrowly defining it in her pretend version of reality. Solving problems without the problem or mystery being too obvious, and good writing, are most of what make this book good. It is not a praiseworthy story, but if you are looking for a better than average book, especially well written, and at least partly in the 'mystery' genre, this is a good fit.

Better

Each story in this series seems to get better than the last which is actually a difficult feat.
I’m very happy the main character has shown steady growth, her witchy attitude and too long thinking, self dialogue thing she does drove me crazy enough at the start of the series I almost didn’t go on to the next in the series. Well done author.

Narrator has annoying voice

I disliked narrator for these series from the beginning but somehow in this book I just couldn’t stand her anymore. It’s beyond annoying, it sounds like person either high or constipated… I think because of this some of the writing that is repetitive stood out to me as well. For example, how author describes human father of the main heroine, that he is the person who kissed her scrapes when she was little. This is literally mentioned every time the guy comes onto the scene. I am invested in these series now, the story. I do not know if the next book is the last. I wish it wouldn’t be the last but at the same time I don’t think I can handle more of this narrator.

Annoying main character

The main character is annoying, ill-tempered, short-sighted, selfish and entitled. She has few redeeming qualities and only a couple of other characters hold any sort of appeal.

And yet I'm 4 books in and still planning on reading more
so make of that what you will.
