Publisher's summary

The fifth installment in the best-selling Cassie Quinn mystery series from Wall Street Journal best-selling authors L.T. Ryan and K.M. Rought. A gripping thriller with a touch of the paranormal that will keep you guessing until the last minute.

When Cassie lands in Chicago, all she knows is that Detective Harris has a lead on what happened to David. But when they meet face-to-face, Cassie realizes her friend is grasping at straws, and the glimmer of hope she sees on the horizon fades fast. At every turn, it feels like Cassie’s life is crumbling around her.

Until, that is, she notices a mysterious shadow following her around the city. Cassie has never experienced a haunting quite like this, but if she can puzzle out its purpose, it might just lead to some real answers.

The truth isn’t always easy to bear, and Cassie soon discovers maybe she didn’t know David as well as she thought. And while she and the detective hunt down an assassin with ties back in Savannah, he’s patiently stalking them from the shadows.

A must-listen for fans of Ghost Whisperer and Medium, Gregg Olsen, Angela Marsons, Robert Dugoni, Melinda Leigh, Kendra Elliot, and Mary Burton.

anxious!

This series has kept me right on the edge of my seat (figuratively) and waiting to see the next turn of events. Now we're on a jet headed for Los Angeles, wonder what will turn up now?

WAY TOO SHORT!!!

This entire series is SOOOO entertaining and much, much too short. I had an email conversation with one of the authors, L. T. Ryan and expressed my thoughts on the length of his wonderful books. I sincerely hope that he will give some length to future releases. I hate spending a credit on books that end before they ever get started. But I thoroughly enjoy the talents of L. T. Ryan and K. M. Rought. The narrators do an excellent job at bringing all the characters to life. I highly recommend this entire series but definitely start with Book 1 and grow with each character.

Life is Twisted With This One.

Cassie Quinn is a tough character to completely wrap your head around. She seems fragile, haunted, and needy. All of that is true, in a sense. But she's tougher than she seems; probably even stronger than she realizes. She is haunted, both literally and figuratively, but that's an issue she deals with daily. As for being needy, well... she has had a tough life, and there are basic concepts that she seeks, such as security and justice. But she has no interest in playing the damsel in distress and relying on others.

Since the murder of her best friend and mentor, she's been on the hunt for answers. In this portion of the story, that takes her to Chicago in a bizarre twist. From there, let's just say things get curiouser and curiouser. But both Cassie and the recently disgraced, currently on leave Detective Harris follow clues through the seedy streets, alleys, and abandoned buildings of Chicago. They will do everything in their power to bring justice to their old friend and fellow detective.

Fans of the series will love this latest addition. If you haven't yet met Cassie et al, you can pick up the bulk of the story here. But for maximum impact, I would suggest starting at the beginning of the series. This will give you a better understanding of why a South Carolina detective and a psychic from Savannah would search so hard for answers. This is a great series for those who enjoy a touch of the paranormal with their suspense/thriller, mystery reads.

Unfinished story

This book continues previous story, little predictable and unfinished. It it read very well but leaves something to be desired.
