Publisher's summary

New York Admirals goalie Eric never thought his friends-with-benefits arrangement with much-younger Kyle would leave them both wanting more…

Veteran goaltender Eric Bennett has faced down some of the toughest shooters on the ice, but nothing prepared him for his latest challenge—life after hockey. It's time to make some big changes, starting with finally dating men for the first time.

Graduate student Kyle Swift moved to New York nursing a broken heart. He'd sworn to find someone his own age to crush on (for once). Until he meets a gorgeous, distinguished silver fox hockey player. Despite their intense physical attraction, Kyle has no intention of getting emotionally involved. He'll teach Eric a few tricks, have some mutually consensual fun, then walk away.

Eric is more than happy to learn anything Kyle brings to the table. And Kyle never expected their friends-with-benefits arrangement to leave him wanting more. Happily-ever-after might be staring them in the face, but it won't happen if they're too stubborn to come clean about their feelings.

Everything they both want is within reach…they just have to be brave enough to grab it.

Story even better with Cooper!

Not to diss Thor Tom, not at all, but I am *so* happy we have a new narrator for the last three books. Cooper’s voice, accents and overall performance are *chef’s kiss* p e r f e c t i o n. Can’t wait for hear the next two…going to be epic. Hashtag Ilya and Shane forever.

Good story. Good narration.

Really enjoyed the beginning of this story, and the characters are interesting. The constant back and forth between Eric and Kyle did start to drag on a little bit. Yes, we understand that there is an age gap. The angst started to feel like whining, and I say, "Bite me to anyone who thinks 40 is old for an athlete. I will show you what this old lady can do with a dodgy rotator cuff."

All that said, I enjoyed the functional part of Eric and Kyle's relationship.

This book felt like a lead up story. A few characters that have dropped by in earlier books reappeared a bit too conveniently. More Ilya and Shane now please!

Cooper North is definitely on my must listen narrator list too.

Make Sure to Read Book #1 ("Game Changer") First!

Another enjoyable book from Rachel Reid, however, not my most favorite. In this book there are quite a few characters who show up from her first book in the series, "Game Changer", such as Scott & Kip, so make sure you read that book first. Things will make more sense if you do. This is the fourth book in the series and in my opinion, "Game Changer", is the best book in the series so far.

Names

I know this probably sounds really silly and maybe I am the only person who has an issue with this, but I swear - there is something about the names Eric and Kyle together that makes them indistinguishable in my mind. The WHOLE book I really had to THINK about it whenever their names were mentioned because I couldn’t automatically know who it was referring to. I said to consciously think Eric=hockey player. I wish those names weren’t used together in this story.

Another Great Book!

As usual, I loved the characters, ALTHOUGH the lack of their ability to communicate their feelings did become quite aggravating Lol. Narrator was good. Definitely different than Tor Tom. After hearing Tor’s version of Ilia, it’s really hard to hear anyone else do it.

Another great story!

I adored heated rivalry and was not disappointed with this one either. Both performances were amazing and I truly cannot get enough of these hockey players. If I had any complaints it was only for the story to be longer because I just want more!

Sweet couple

This couple was sweet and the story was cute like Tough Guy. I’m spoiled by the passionate, hot, aggressive, extremely humorous Heated Rivalry. Shane and Ilya are still my favorite couple. Looking forward to The Long Game!🔥🔥🔥 and Thor Tom rocks!

Very Sexy, Very Repetitive

Although this book was really sexy, I found the story to be a bit frustrating. Reid creates really charming characters and an interesting enough premise, but the plot it’s stuck in inertia. Throughout the book she creates multiple outlets, that if explored, could have made for a rich storyline. Instead, the entire book revolves around the same repetitive insecurities, which create a story that’s one dimensional and all of the possibilities that would have made the book more interesting were simply tied up in a nice little bow during the epilogue. The repetition was a bummer. That said, the characters are charming, the narration is excellent and the chemistry between Eric and Kyle is super steamy. Because the two first books of the series were so great I will try the next book in the series once it’s written.
