Best Audio Book

What did you love best about Why We Suck?

Denis is the only author that I've listened to who makes it feel like he was sitting beside you on your living room couch telling you his childhood story. I listen do this book when I'm on my 27 hr road trip and it's a great way to kill 5 hours. You don't even realize that the time has gone. Very entertaining. My only hope is that he writes another.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I laughed so hard during his mom's "cooking" recipes! I was laughing so hard that I called my sister and turned up my speakers for her to listen. She informed me that during the "Thanksgiving portion" of the book she was laughing so hard she had tears in her eyes! This book takes me back to my childhood and how my mom, grandparents and brothers all were.
I've read the book twice and listened to the audiobook 4 times. It never gets old!

Made me laugh so hard I was crying!

He is... because of his wit and his machine gun delivery.

Inflection and intonation as well as the fast pace.

Exactly what I expected and wanted!

Ah.... No one else could have narrated this book. If you loved No Cure for Cancer and Mr. Leary's other endeavors you will absolutely love Why We Suck. Laugh yourself silly and enjoy.

funny and light hearted

The book was fun and a light read/ listen. Good for taking your mind off things and having a laugh.

Like an extended comedy album

This audiobook is filled with ranting and nuggets of "wisdom" very similar to his popular comedy albums 'No Cure for Cancer' and 'Lock 'n' Load'. The best part is that it is much longer than those albums...and he put Dr. in front of his name.

Love Leary but Beware

I have always loved Denis Leary because he tells you what he is honestly thinking. He's loud, Irish, and doesn't give a s***. He will tell you you are fat or ugly and make no appology. For this, I will never listen to it with my mother in the car - he's too harsh for her sensibilities. For me, I love every minute of his rude, honest, quick talking commentary on everything he can talk about in 5 hours.

So beware. He's in your face for half the time a regular book on here so if you like listening to people rant about the state of Americans as we REALLY think they/we are, then get this book. It's fun.

if you love Denis Leary, you will love his book. his delivery does not disappoint. as funny as it is, there is also truth to what he has to say and i loved every minute of it. i have already listened to it twice and will listen to it many more times. Like watching a favorite movie over & over again.
