Sporadic yet insightful

If you could sum up The New New Rules in three words, what would they be?

Sporadic, Insightful, Entertaining.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The wide range of topics the book covers from politics to the economy to religion to even pop culture. If you care about it Bill probably covers it in this book at one point or another.

What does Bill Maher bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The way the sarcasm comes off in his voice really adds to how entertaining the book is and helps you picture what he is saying in your head alot easier. If you were just reading it I fear his witty sarcasm would fly over the heads of most people.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed from time to time but mostly chuckled. If you watch his TV show you have heard some of this stuff already but its nice to hear them again especially the older ones. If you don't watch the TV show or are new to it and enjoy it you are in for a treat with this book and Its highly recommended.

The way the book is setup isn't the best. All the

better on tv

should have known what to expect with the whole 'new rules' thing; but wanted a little more from a true comic thinker.

I Love Bill Maher, but...

Would you try another book from Bill Maher and/or Bill Maher?

I Love Bill Maher, but the audiobook just didnt work for me. I think it is just out of context or maybe because I have heard many of these before, but I only listened to half of it. Maher is brilliant, I anticipate his show each week it is on and hang on every word and wonder why I never thought of it that way, but I just didnt enjoy listening.

Great Audiobook

I didn't know Bill Maher had a new book coming out, but as soon as I saw it I bought it. I wasn't disappointed. One great thing about this book is that he narrates it himself. It just wouldn't be the same with someone else speaking his words. His delivery is excellent from years of pratice on his show. I was laughing the whole way through this Abook and agreeing with just about everything he said. I live in Japan and don't have to be bombarded with all the political correctness and religious crap going on in the states. When I do go back home to visit, I'm shocked at what America is becoming. Bill hits on so many subjects that we all are fed up with, and he does it with straight forward in your face style. Keep it up Bill. Also, check out his documentary Religulous, it's great. This is a great Abook. It's funny and thought provoking.

I like Bill Maher and his no holds barred comedy style.

The New Rules poking fun at politicians are usually the funniest.

What’s the most interesting tidbit you’ve picked up from this book?

Nothing or no one is safe from Bill Maher's humor, especially if you are famous, do something stupid, or better yet, both.

Fun, especially if you're a fan of the show

Watching the actual show is better; somehow the audience laughter and the live element makes his delivery of the "new rules" more striking. But I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the book (read by Maher himself). Additionally, it contains a lot of rules that never aired. With Maher, you know what you are getting: acerbic whit, diatribes against the right and traditional values: marriage, religion, the culture of consumption, etc. Sometimes I think he has gone too far, but the challenge of great comedy has always been to give voice to unspoken truths, criticize sacred values, and push the boundaries of our tolerance. This book certainly has a lot of pushing, criticism, and truth. Enjoy.

What made the experience of listening to The New New Rules the most enjoyable?

Listening to Bill Maher tell jokes in his sarcastic tone is what makes the book such a joy. He tells his jokes better than anyone else could.

I've listened to this book over and over again.

"The New New Rules" Is an interesting and entertaining book but it not meant for audio listeners. You will spend most of your time listening to Bill say "New Rule" before ever paragraph he reads. It gets old....fast... I didn't realize this book is primarily a list and that doesn't work well in an audio format.

This is a book you want to listen to in small bites, after a while it is just too much and the same basic formula. If you like the TV show you will like this.
