Publisher's summary

When Mr. Earnshaw brings a black-haired foundling child into his home on the Yorkshire moors, he little imagines the dramatic events which will follow. The passionate relationship between Cathy Earnshaw and the foundling, Heathcliff, is a story of love, hate, pity, and retribution, the effects of which reverberate throughout the succeeding generations.

Romance Novel

Narration was great. I’m not a romance novel reader and when this book turned into a hopeless love story I had to stop listening to it.

An Emotional Classic

Far more in-depth than any movie could portray. I was rivetted by the emotions and portrayals of these classic characters. The reading is compelling. I would highly reccomend.

A challenging tale made accessible by skilled narration.

Wuthering Heights is one of those classics that many consider an acquired taste. Much like other works of its time, it concerns itself with the relationships and emotions of its characters and less on their actions.
The characters, being central to the narrative, must be understood and distinguished between. This task is made the more difficult by Bronte’s choice to name them very similarly. This is where the narration shines. The readers do well to capture the characters and their uniqueness and idiosyncrasies so that one is rarely lost as to whom is speaking.
The choice to vary the narration between two readers (male and female) also helps to distinguish when certain events transpire.

Glad I can return books

This is a tale of two very messed up families and how they all destroyed each other. I kept hoping that things would take a turn and good would triumph in the end, but it never got much better. If you want a story of star-crossed lovers on the Moors, stick with the other Bronte sister and read Jane Eyre.

The narration was pretty well done, but too slow for my taste. Eventually I sped it up to 1.2x to get through. During the dramatic passages the female narrator became gaspy, which annoyed me and made me even less able to empathize with the crew of unlikable characters.

Love, Anguish, and Agony

Such a masterpiece. It’s like a Pride n Prejudice gone Gothic. I’ve loved this story since a young teen but now can appreciate the writing and all the levels of the characters. At times you just don’t know how to feel for each character- sympathize, empathize, pity, anger? It’s a train wreck of emotions!! Love it as much now as ever. The narrators are excellent in this version, lending good voices to the characters.

Narrated beautifully, Horrible Story

This is not one of the best books ever. I would not recommend it. Revenge on the innocent, is despicable.

It gave me nightmares 😫

Decent

Unfortunately Wuthering Heights was never one of my favorites, though I have discovered through Audible that some books I so so liked before become more alive in an audio book. The narration was only mediocre, and did not do anything to bring the book alive. I felt nothing for the characters, they all sort of fell flat, the changes between characters were harsh and did nothing to their personalities. I would not say I was disappointed, but I did not have the pleasure of this book coming alive.

Awful narrators

Their were too narrators, one who spoked for the story told by nelly and the second narration was by a man who told the story of mr. Lokewood. They were terrible narrators both. Extremely slow
