Publisher's summary

Tom Baker reads Charles Dickens' timeless seasonal story.

Charles Dickens' story of solitary miser Ebenezer Scrooge, who is taught the true meaning of Christmas by the three ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future, has become one of the timeless classics of English literature. First published in 1843, it introduces us not only to Scrooge himself but also to the memorable characters of underpaid desk clerk Bob Cratchit and his poor family, the poorest amongst whom is the ailing and crippled Tiny Tim.

In this new recording, Tom Baker delivers a tour-de-force performance as he narrates the story. The listener joins Scrooge on Christmas Eve, witnesses the visitation of Marley's ghost, and is given a glimpse of the many homes and lives which Scrooge has touched in his wretched life to date. This ultimately uplifting tale is a festive delight to be treasured and listened to again and again.

I'm glad to have gotten this.

Tom Baker doing another Audio project, I think yes. This was beautiful and emotional, so well expressed. I'm honestly shocked he didn't do more animated voice acting over the years. I know many celebritie does this at some point, but Tom Baker's performance is simply immaculate. It's worth the point or the price, whichever you may chose. Just like Mr. Scrooge, if you're not in the Christmas spirit at the start, I assure you that you will be by the end.

The narrator matches the author!

This was an amazing experience to listen to! The background sounds make it ominous and the rolling of the bell especially. I loved all of the characters Tom Baker narrated. Fantastic job! This is my first time getting through the whole book and Tom Baker definitely helped in that department. I haven’t listened to other versions but I don’t think I’ll have to because this was marvelous. Will for sure read annually!

An amazing rendition of this classic story

I am not going to review the story as I have done that already, many times, but I want to share my listening experience. I waited until today to listen to it and it was a Christmas Eve delight. Tom Baker is not a narrator I was familiar with, but he put forward an amazing performance. His voice is versatile and he was spot on with his characterization and voices. His expression, tone and enthusiasm shone through. I am so glad I bought this one as it will be a Christmas Eve tradition for me for many years to come.

Tom Baker reads A Christmas Carol

A truly masterful performance by Tom Baker of a Christmas classic by Charles Dickens, who performed this tale himself on occasion later in his life. Tom Baker inhabits the many characters with vim and vigor and (one can only assume) heartfelt enthusiasm. I have listened to Tim Curry’s Audible presentation as well as Patrick Stewart’s and Tom Baker’s narration/performance is among these as my favorites. The author’s words are given life and breath and warmth, a gift.
