Publisher's summary

Jane Austen's most popular novel, originally published in 1813, some 17 years after it was first written, presents the Bennet family of Longbourn. Against the background of gossipy Mrs. Bennet and the detached Mr. Bennet, the quest is on for husbands for the five daughters. The spotlight falls on Elizabeth, second eldest, who is courted by Darcy, though initially she is more concerned with the fate of her other sisters.

My absolute favourite

If you could sum up Pride and Prejudice in three words, what would they be?

Given the three word title, it seems rude to override the author's choice - pride and prejudice really says it best!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Eliza Bennett: she is sassy, intelligent, determined, headstrong and loyal, she can also admit when she's wrong, very necessary

Any additional comments?

Wonderful classic to be enjoyed several times over

Pride and Prejudice

This audio book was wonderful. The voice of the reader was very easy to listen to, while still affording the ability to distiquish between characters. I listened to it on a flight to and from England and, remarkably, it made the flight enjoyable. I hope you enjoy hearing it as much as I did.

No It's Emma

I disagree that Pride and Prejudice is Jane Austen's most popular novel. I've always been undeer the belief that "Emma" was not only her best but also most popular.

My suggestion: buy both and take your pick. :-)

Great reading!

I thoroughly enjoyed this reading of P&P. At first, it drove me crazy when Ms. Fox would read Mrs. Bennett's lines - she would shriek and wail in a very obnoxious manner. Then I realized this is probably exactly how Mrs. Bennett would have spoken!

MY FAVORITE BOOK!!!!!!!!

If you could sum up Pride and Prejudice in three words, what would they be?

Wonderful, Romantic and Witty

What was one of the most memorable moments of Pride and Prejudice?

What I say to my children and grands when they cry ( as babies) "Nobody knows how much I suffer" ...the babies words not mine.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

Ms Fox interpretation was good I listened to better performances

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I made me mad when I was younger, I read this story multiple times. I have also listened to it just as many times. I makes me laugh especially Mrs. Bennet; my favorite character.

Any additional comments?

If you ever want to listen to a great story this is the book!!!! You will get lost in the mayhem of the Bennet Family. The young ladies started women"s lib long before it began.

Jane Austen is a genius.

We have known that all of Jane Austen's books are incredible, and Pride and Prejudice is the finest one, but this performance by Emilia Fox is stellar as well. She uses the voices of the actors/ characters in the famed BBC production for many of the characters. While this is inconsistent her overall performance is still outstanding and brought a new enjoyment and dimension to an old favorite. I highly recommend it.

Miss Fox gives a wonderful read of this great book. I love the way she does the different voices. Her timing and inflections are wonderful.

Excellent narration!

As a classic, this is an obvious must-read. I read it in school but the audiobook made the story so much more enjoyable due to the characters easy-to-understand accent and voice-impersonations. If you haven't read this in a while, definitely listen to the audio version, you will love it!

Perfectly delightful

There are several versions available, but after sampling a few I recommend this one. The narration is excellent. The story is perfectly delightful. I think I enjoyed it even more than when I read it as a teen.
