Magnifique!

From the beginning of this story I was captivated. Knowing that it was Mrs. Bennett's business to see each of her daughters married, one could feel an entertaining tale unfolding. One can see Mrs. Bennett has her favorite daughters and her least favorite, Miss Elizabeth Bennett. However in her favor, she was her father's most beloved. I immediately began to empathize with Elizabeth and was completely drawn into her story. I enjoyed every moment of listening.

Best Narrator of Them All

Kate Reading brings all the characters to life. My favorite narrator. Pleasing voice. Bravo Ms, Reading.

Wonderful Rendition of a Beloved Story!

Kate Reading did an excellent job in this version of Pride and Prejudice. I enjoyed her tonality, inflections, pace and overall performance. The quality of the recording itself was pretty good, too.

My favorite...

Hard to give an impartial review of a story I love so much. The recording is very well done and the narrator gives excellent voice to the varied characters.

Production has timing issues

First: The Kate Reading production of Pride & Prejudice is the best I've heard. BUT this edition has production issues. There are weird timing issues, where there's not enough pause between sentences or speakers--and in other places the pacing that the original production had have changed.

I'm referring to the original production because I have the CDs from a the 1980 recording done by Books On Tape and it's MUCH better.

I returned my copy of this (purchased for convenience) and am just going to use the MP3s.

Kate Reading is also Johanna Ward

Just want to add my praise for this wonderfully read book. As did many others, I went to look for more narrations of Jane Austen by Kate Reading, and there are none. However, I found, by googling Kate Reading, that she uses many names, one of which is Johanna Ward. And there is an excellent Mansfield Park by that narrator.

wonderful!!

I have read the book many times over the years and seen different versions of it in movies/video. This adio book captured perfectly the essence and nuances of the book and brought this listener into the drawing rooms and conversations of the characters. I actually cringed with embarrassment for Elizabeth in the relevant parts and laughed out loud at others. A truly wonderful experience!

Best book!

This is one of Jane Austen's best books. I love the story and have listened to it several times, but always get much enjoyment every time i relisten. Kate Reading is a very good reader and brings the story to life. The story is so great because it is a love story that is so romantic, but doesn't have any of the blatant sex that so many of today's novels do.
