I love this book!

60 years ago, when I was a young girl, I read this book and it made a profound impact on me. I still have the book but less time to read, so I was happy to see it as an Audible choice. I enjoyed it all over again. Love the old black and white movie as well. Thank you Audible!

Best Book Ever!!

Lost Horizon has been my favorite book for the last 40 years. I have read hundreds of books and Lost Horizon still remains my favorite. Michael de Morgan does an amazing job of narration with the different character voices. Thanks Audible for this book!!

I Lost and Hidden Worlds

Some books are difficult reads thus best best orally. I’m thankful to Audible for producing this story in the oral tradition.

Haunting and meditatively introspective

A little background in Buddhist philosophy goes a long way toward understanding this complex exploration of the intersection of Eastern and Western conceptions of Existence…. But even without, a wistful and haunting exploration of the idea of paradise…lost…. And while noticeable, the slow pace of reading at times seems thematically appropriate in an almost meditative way.

A wonderful find

Any additional comments?

Hilton's story is a classic, well worth the listen. It makes you (or at least, it made me) imagine being in Shangri-la, with no cares at all. A most inviting place. The negative here is the performance. De Morgan's reading is fine, most of his voices are quite good, but the production quality is lacking. At least three times I heard something falling in the background. And the pace is interminable (a digital reworking could clean things up quite a bit). Loooong pauses are frequent. But I recommend you put those problems aside and just listen. I've said before here, classics become classics for a reason. "The Lost Horizon" is well deserving of the honor.

great story ruined by noisy skippy audio

This is a truly wonderful and meaningful story. However, the audio was terrible.. It had skips and slips all through it. and there was constant background noise and echo all through it.
The story itself is wonderful.

Great except for recording quality

I don't typically listen to fiction, but I absolutely loved this book. If you're a fan of exploring the unknown and finding the unexpected, this book will grip you.

The performer was adept at using various voices to render different characters.

The one drawback is that the recording quality isn't the best, but it's good enough that you can make out what's going on. The original recording is likely on the older side, but the content is lovely.

superb story told by the old school

This is a classic. I'm more familiar with the movie and the book filled in a lot. The ending of the book is totally different. the story climax in the book is kind of weak and I like the movie better. The background in the book is all inspiring and as one gets older makes more more sense. Definitely Worth a listen.

An excellent tale, well told

Lost Horizon is a classic tale of a mystical land where people live long lives and believe in "moderation" in most everything. I couldn't put it down. It is extremely well written, and the narrator's quiet voice fit the tale perfectly. Well worth a credit.

Shangri-La

Exquisite little story. Can't say as much for the narrator. He was rather irritating most of the time, but it wasn't ba enough to keep me from finishing the book.
