Publisher's summary

A murdered unpopular business owner. A small town with busybodies and open secrets. Can a new girl in town start a new life before a murder investigation ends it?

Tracy Adams had three things going for her in her just-above-average boring life namely:

  1. A good job
  2. A good job that she liked
  3. A good job that she liked...and that paid very well

When she lost her job and had to move back to the small town where she grew up, it seemed like her life had lost all purpose. Helping out at her aunt's floundering floral shop seemed like the perfect distraction before she decided what to do next.

When her aunt's competition, a nasty and egotistical know-it-all, is found dead, the rumor mill in Fern Grove goes into overdrive. With an important piece of evidence linking Tracy to the scene of the crime, she becomes a person of interest in the murder investigation. This leaves her feeling vulnerable and confused.

Moving back to Fern Grove was meant to be the start of a new life, but this murder mystery is fast ending what has hardly begun. Will she retain her wits and piece together the clues that will lead her to the killer?

If you want to enjoy a light-hearted listen, with an amateur female sleuth and a gripping murder mystery with a touch of romance, then you'll love Tracy Adams and all the friendly and not-so-friendly characters in Fern Grove.

No cliff-hanger, swearing, or graphic scenes!

Great short story

I enjoyed the narrator on this book. Nicely written and kept me guessing. Cozy mysteries are great and this was no exception.

Carnations and Deadly Fixations Fern Grove Cozy M

Tracey is back in her home town helping her aunt reopen the flower shop her aunt and her husband had run before his death. Oh joy of joys! The lady who runs the other flower shop in town starts to run her mouth and give her insults, I mean, her opinions of their store.Tracey and her aunt just let it run off their back and return to work for their reopening. Two days later when they open their opening is interrupted by a woman coming in and accusing Tracey of murdering her friend and employer. From this moment on Tracey is wrapped up in a murder investigation as the lead suspect. On the scene is the handsome police detective who seems to get on Tracey's last nerve.
Jeannette Smith is a remarkable narrator who breathes live into the characters.
Fantastic audio and story.

Fun read

Loved Tracy and Ruth and the addition of Tiffany. A short book with a lot of things going on! Some interesting and a little crazy twists and turns. I had the murderer in mind early on! Oops I was wrong! Thanks Abby for an enjoyable book!

Good cozy mystery

Small town nosiness and jealousy make for an interesting mystery.

Carnations and Deadly Fixations (Fern Grove Cozy Mystery Book 1), my first read from author Abby Reede. Well-written & enjoyable. a cute, clean cozy mystery with well-developed characters and detailed settings. I enjoyed the vocal variety & inflections of narrator Jeannette Smith. The book was so good my wife and I listened to it over watching television. Very short and yet extremely entertaining:)

It's my first book by Ms Reede and it's a good one:)
The book is really short, even for a cozy mystery and yet it feels like a complete long novel:) There are great red herrings on the way to the solution of the crime, the plot is fast, the investigation mostly done through dialogues; and there's quite a lot of humour thrown into the mix, too. Narration by Ms Smith is great; I liked all the voices she gave individual characters, and I found it fast enough not to speed the book up:)
If you like cozy mysteries and look for something quite short for one afternoon, don't hesitate, grab this one - it's really entertaining:)

Cute, Charming, Cozy Mystery

This story was the first book in the Fern Grove Cozy Mystery series and it sets up the town and the inhabitants of Fern Grove beautifully. Tracy moves back to her home town in order to help her aunt with her failing flower business. While there, Tracy becomes a suspect in a murder investigation. I found this book to be a very entertaining and quick read and recommend it to others who like this genre. Jeannette Smith's narration was great and her voice was clear. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily left this review.
