A Mini Seminary

Almost the same material as taught in Dr. Lawson's expository preaching seminar, but nonetheless just as valuable. A wonderful refresher or primer to those of us "called to preach". A brilliant teacher sharing his knowledge of what every pastor needs to know. A must read for all who are called.

Honestly.

This is the GREATEST audio book I have ever listened to… except for 1 other (of course☺️🙏 📖) I submitted to Gods call to preach later in life this year 2022. I am 44 yrs old, a husband, father of 3 boys (all living at home) and my mother lives with us. We are a single income family and I have worked for the same company for the past 17 years. Im currently preaching from the pulpit at my church about once every other month. My time to prepare messages is very limited and I’ve been burdened about what to do.

This book has given me profound insight that I didn’t know or understand. Thank you Dr Lawson for patiently working through and writing a book that is a biblical guide to rightly handling Gods Word. 2 Timothy 2:15

Please pray for me. It is a heavy-laden call and knowing the only way to make more time would be to leave my career.

To all who read this… I sincerely thank you for your prayers.

Excellent resource. Very encouraging

This will certainly be a quick resource I’ll use in the years to come. I read it through twice and was greatly encouraged each time. I can’t wait to read through the biographies of saints of old that were recommended in the book.

Gripping, appreciative

I have a new found respect for the pastors who labor so intensively as is laid out in this book. Even if I don’t become a pastor, I will certainly glean from it practical applications to teaching and sharing the word of God. Intriguing, thorough, engaging.

Great book on how to preach and why.

Great book for men that are wondering if they have a call of God to preach in the Christian Church. As well, it covers not just the fundamentals of the preparation required before you begin to preach, but also the life long commitment to preach Biblically with rigorous, regular study of the Bible. Lawson also a gives strong admonition to make sure the the preacher lives a life of holiness and filling the teachings of scripture. I highly recommend this book.

Sincerely,
Pastor Paul Trimble

Excellent synopsis of call to preach

I would have given a full 5 stars if there had been some examples of good sermons - examples of pace, modulation and tone as well as structure. Given audio format, and this topic, a perfect medium to demonstrate not solely describe. Otherwise excellent.

Mid-level work; solid insights

Didn’t like how they seemed to pit preaching vs. any other work in the world as greater than the other. Needs a robust theology of work informing it, but overall great insights to preaching, prep, and personal holiness. Seems very similar to your average preaching book read in seminary.
