A great book

A wonderful book that I found to be developmental and maturative for a young man coming of age such as myself. I further highly recommend this book.

A must listen for therapists

This book has helped me clarify my pending matters as a therapist and has helped me pinpoint my future goals to improve in my practice. I'd recommend reading it frequently as a tool for self evaluation

A good listen, but…

…it is definitely intended to get you to buy everything Irvin Yalum ever wrote. Caveat emptor

Decent for new therapist

I believe this books to be a decent starter for a new therapist. While somewhat dry it’s worth a listen.

New therapist

As a new therapist, I feel this was a very important book to read before I start practicing. I learned about most of the topics during my training, but Yalom talks about nuances and deeper subjects of how to meet clients where they are and how to dig a little deeper in not only their lives but in ours as a therapist.

A must read. Informative and even therapeutic.

This was an incredibly helpful book. I highly recommend it for the new generation of therapists. I recommend it for anyone considering therapy or in it. Having a chance to read this book is like having rich therapy sessions with one of the finest practitioners. I appreciate the sympathetic perspective what is worthy in Freudian psychology. Gave me an appreciation for the value of an excellent psychotherapist.Provides resources for even a novice to become that.

Absolute must buy for young therapist

I am an afro-caribbean male therapist resident in Baltimore, MD and I struggled for a long time with trying to adapt so many modalities to my treatment plans with no avail. It was only in the marvelously simple "here-and-now" concepts of Dr. Yalom that I truly realize what I was doing wrong and how I can do better. The book is so simple to digest and Don Hagen's voice is the perfect vehicle to carry such a powerful text. The gift of therapy is the perfect audiobook to gift to yourself if you want to be more grounded and knowledgeable about what makes for a profoundly brilliant therapy session.

Great Read!

The therapist's reflection on his session, as well as client input made this book an amazing offering on ways to improve the therapeutic experience for both clients and clinicians. I thoroughly enjoyed the audiobook and took away items to apply in practice.
