Publisher's summary

In this audio edition of the totally revised underground best seller, The E-Myth, Michael Gerber dispels the myths surrounding starting your own business and shows how commonplace assumptions can get in the way of running a business. He walks you through the steps in the life of a business, from entrepreneurial infancy, through adolescent growing pains, to the mature entrepreneurial perspective, the guiding light of all businesses that succeed, and shows how to apply the lessons of franchising to any business, whether or not it is a franchise. Finally, Gerber draws the vital, often overlooked distinction between working on your business and working in your business. After you have listened to The E-Myth Revisited, you will truly be able to grow your business in a predictable and productive way.

Very Practical beautifully presented

Scientifically backed, Motivating, almost poetry. The story used to demonstrate the key messages gets a little old, but I am a big fan of the messages and how the book is written.
I started my own business and was told that business structure is important. But I thought that would come in time. Since my business failed I am now in a position to take this message to heart. The author hits the nail on the head! Listen to him. "Work on your business" its more important than working in it.
The idea of 3 people inside you is true too: technician, manager & leader.
Its VERY easy to allow your dominant side control you and your business.
I wish I had really understood this before I started my business.

Best Business Book You Will Read- IF you get it...

I own more than 1000 books plus more than 150 audio books and this is my first audible review. The majority of my books are business books, but I consider the E-myth the best business book I own. Michael is an amazing thinker, coach and story teller whom share some truly amazing innovations in this book, arranged in a proven format. Many of the ideas in this book are not new, but some are very much so. And what is much more impressive is the way that Michael has put them together to give you a very unique point of view of your business, which he calls the E-myth point of view. The reason I am not giving it a five star is that the book has some long-drawn stories that only after listening to the book several times (which I have done over a dozen times), it becomes more obvious their relevance to the concept, but that I still believe could have been left out or replaced with more practical examples. This said, as Michael teaches in another of his programs, when marketing your ideas you should focus for 80% on the problem and 20% on the solution as anyone who is an expert in the problem is also perceived as an expert in the solution. So get this book as fast as you can. You should not call your self an Entrepreneur until at least you are familiar with the ideas contained within the E-myth.

Great book - need a different reader

The material in this book is timeless. I thoroughly enjoyed the concepts and information. The reader/author however had a tendency to drive me nuts. His writing technique was somewhat of a speech technique at times and he would repeat the first half of a sentence over and over and over and over...and seeing as his voice straight up drove me batty it made it that much harder to listen to. Think George from Seinfeld going on one of his rants - that about sums up this reader (the author). I almost stopped listening after I heard him say the word "pies" for the 50th time. He puts so much emphasis on the "p"s and the "t"s it's ear bleeding.
