Publisher's summary

When raised to the level of art, seduction, an indirect and subtle form of power, has toppled empires, won elections, and enslaved great minds. The Art of Seduction synthesizes the legacies of civilization's greatest seducers - from Cleopatra to JFK - with the philosophies of important intellectuals on the subject, including everyone from Freud to Kierkegaard and Ovid to Casanova, and the classic literature of seduction. Robert Greene identifies the rules of a timeless, amoral game and explores how to cast a spell, break down resistance, and, ultimately, compel a target to surrender. The Art of Seduction is an indispensable primer on the essence of one of history's greatest weapons and the ultimate form of power.

Good abridgment. But read the full print version.

The power in Greene's books is his real-life examples. The full print edition will supply you with those.

Fantastic audio narrator!

Love like a psychopath!

As with Greene's other works, this is merely an explanation of the psychopath as it relates to seduction. He doesn't even bother to go outside of the box with the terminology. Triangulation, etc. are all terms that you can find in any online article about psychopathy. Do yourself a favor and save a ton of time (and money) by cutting out all the needless "case studies," and get the information for fee. Quora and other sites like it have a ton of information regarding this topic. Unfortunately, unless you're a psychopath, sociopath, or narcissist, this book will be useless to you. These aren't things that can be learned or practiced in adulthood. These traits are set in stone by adolescence at the latest, depending upon your particular flavor of antisocial personality disorder. At best, you'll become more aware of these disorders. It won't help you ward off these types at all. They're far too slick and you typically don't even realize it's happening until it's way too late.

Good but could be better

Any additional comments?

I feel kind of like all I did was learn how to identify different types of seductors - not how to operate as one or how to select which one would work in a given situation. Bought the book with intentions of applying the principals at work for career advancement (as advertised and without sex). I was pretty disappointed that my expectations were not met. Nonetheless, it was an interesting read and the "Publisher's Summary" did not oversell it terribly. I'll probably listen again some day and hopefully pick up on some subtleties I missed the first time.

Interesting and enlightening

This book gives us a glimpse into the mental chess that is connection and romance. I loved every second of it, but this book is dangerous. I think that this could either give you self discovery or turn you into a monster. It’s really up to the reader.

Of Course You Hate It…

This book was intended to capture your attention and force an opinion out of you (and it did). I’m a fan of Greene’s writing simply because his teachings in all of his novels can be used to HURT people or to HELP you avoid people's tactics they might use on you. I utilize the teachings in this book to make me more aware of myself and those around me. I believe it is profitable for men and women to read, study, and develop an awareness of this material so they may be on the same page with the world around them. This book is not describing or pointing out anything that is not already happening and has happened for as long as time has existed. It's better to be equipped with the game so you may not be disarmed by those around you.

How to manipulate victims

Historical examples were good, but the referring of people as victims and being a manual for manipulation.. not my cup of tea.

Definitely a must read or listen!

An awesome concept! Shines light on a topic most men/woman wish to no address. Knowing how to seduce is extremely important whether you are looking for a long lasting relationship or a bunch of short term relationships. Even in keeping people interested in you in social situations. Definitely a must read or listen lol

Delivered what's advertised

Offensive to some, and an unapologetic seduction blue print for others. Use the advice responsibility (if you're ready).
