I first heard about this program from a millionaire investor, who was holding a seminar (3day $2400!)he refered to this book many times, it almost seemed to be his religion. I had just received my complimentary 1/2 month subscription a week before, and had recalled seeing many versions of this on audible. At lunch on the final day I asked him for advice and he promptly told me to read this book... whatever, I go to this site and read the reviews - they were so dissapointing I almost didnt get it. so I got the 1 hour abridged version - amazing. I debated the 7th or 8th as my next purchase. 1 review said that the 8th 'rehashed' the seven habits, so I purchased that one. I listened to 2 hours and skipped through the rest of the chapter listening briefly to get the gist ...no mention of the seven habits... I was so dissapointed. I went and purchased the 7 habits (although I was worried that it would be a disapointment). I was worried abut Coveys naration, because a review mentioned this as an annoyance. I was worried I would feel ripped off like I do after buying so so many books, and because some of the reviews said so ...But knowing how much faith the investor put into this work I purchased it. This is what I learned. 1)Stephen narrates this book with passion and meaning, this makes the difference betwen effective and greatness. 2)This book has impacted me like no other book before, yes its common knowledge - but no its not. 3)The whole foundation of that seminar was built on this book! ...My advice to you - blah make your own decision. I, myself am sure(darn)happy I took that chance. I guess it all depends on your paradigm. Goodluck!

Generally a good book, but contains too much fluff. Could have been a lot more leaner, while still providing the same values. A great book to hear though.

Just listening to this book once can help you be a better person. You find yourself incorporating many of the principles automatically from just having learned them. I am on my second time through it and plan to re-listen until I can master the principles. I can see how some might get board with the first part of the book, which helps prepare you for the principles taught later. If you're serious about improving yourself, your relationships, and those around you, (just from having known you), I would recommend this book.
