Hannah

There are no good men, only bad ones. The men from my past have proven this time and time again. I have no reason to think this one will be any different. One minute, I’m having dinner with my father and the next, I’m locked in a dark room waiting to be sold to the highest bidder. I can only imagine what kind of hell my life is about to become.

Reed

I am what I am. A sadist with a soul as dark as night. I’ve accepted this long ago. I wasn’t always like this. A man can only see so much evil until it changes him, haunts him, and clouds the way he views the world. I swore to never let anyone get close to me, but there’s something about Hannah. She intrigued me. I wanted her. I needed to know what lies beyond that broken spirit. I had to have her...so I bought her.

Bought is book number one in The Owned Series. It does end on a light cliffhanger but I promise it is so worth it! As a special thank you, I'm including bonus content that will only be available during launch week! Enjoy!

Interesting start….slight cliffhanger

This one was interesting. It goes back and forth some between past and present for the characters as we get to know them and figure out some of the reasons why they are the way that they are. Hannah has definitely not had things easy and we have just started to get to figure out why though we don't know the full story on why she thinks all men are bad and every man has let her down. Reed is doing contract work for the FBI and working undercover in order to try and take down a sex trafficking ring. He has seen Hannah around town and been drawn to her before but they have never interacted, until she shows up being sold by the guys he is tracking. He decides to purchase her in order to save her since the FBI won't pull her out due to the mission. There seems to be a darker side to Reed, one that we don't quite see the full side of yet, just hints. This is the first book in the series and it does leave on a slight cliffhanger and definitely some questions since we don't have the full story on these characters. The story was interesting and entertaining. It is on the shorter side so was quicker and it kept me following along. It will be interesting to see where things go next.

Addictive Start To This Dark Romance Trilogy

Hello dark romance, alpha hero! This start to a trilogy definitely did it's job at pulling me in and keeping me hooked. Hannah is a victim of her father's sins and selfishness. Reed discovers her while he is undercover for the security company he runs while at an auction. Something about her latches onto him and he has to save her. But don't go thinking he is your typical hero. Reed has his own selfish desires too. He wants Hannah, but first he wants to make sure she's safe. Hannah is confused and not willing to trust Reed who keeps her locked in a house. Survival kicks in and she will do whatever she can to survive. This story was fast paced and had a cliffhanger that had me clicking book two right away. This narrator has the perfect voice that sets the mood for this story. A definite read/listen for dark romance fans. I couldn't wait to see what happens next!

Not bad.

I listened to this book at 1.25x.

This was a fast paced, easy listen to book. Better then I expected. The voice artist (Rodney Falcon) did a good job. His female voices need a little work, but for a short story I give it a solid 4 Stars.

a small taste of the story

I wish it had been longer. Not what I expected. Like it's only part of a story and has cliffhanger ending but I need to know what happens so I guess I have to get the next one because I'm so intrigued and can't make up my mind about Reed.

Great story

The story was good and so was the narration. Just wish it was a duo narration. i feel like a woman's voice was definitely needed for Hannah's part. All in all it was good.

Gripping form the opening words

Reed and Hannah's beginning locks you in from the opening lines and the twists and turns it goes through left me breathless. I immediately wanted them to become more to each other and as the story progressed I could feel the connection that they made. The voice of the narrator brought the story to life. I cannot wait until the next book!!

Terrific Story & Narration🎧 Intense & Gripping!

This is my first book by Derek Masters and it will not be my last. I enjoyed his writing style, he managed to fit a lot of story into his novella sized book, a story that hooked me right in and held me captive to the end. It is the type of book you can not put down, you just need to know what happens next. This book is the start of “The Owned Series” and what a great start it is. Hannah Sullivan introduces herself in the prologue, she states that this is her story, which it is but it is also Reed’s story too. Reed left the Army after serving six years, he is currently a contractor for the government, helping them with their investigations and weeding out the evil. He is in Vegas now working a job, trying to help capture those responsible for human trafficking. Hannah just graduated college is ready to start a career. She has not had the best of luck, especially when it came to men. Her father owes money to the wrong kind of people and she makes a sacrifice to save his life. Hannah has caught Reed’s eye and when he sees she got herself in a situation he does what he has to do to help. This book is well plotted, it contains drama, twists, action and some suspenseful moments. Reed is a good guy Hannah just needs to see it and learn to trust him. I am looking forward to what happens next in he second book of the series “Bent”. Thank you Derek Masters for this great story!

I listened to the Audible edition, Rodney Falcon is a terrific narrator and voice artist. He brings these characters to life, give them their voices and personality as well as heart and attitude. He sets the perfect tone for the story and does a great job projecting the characters emotions into his performance. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another great listen🎧

Good story!💜

This was a good story but wasn’t what I was expecting.
A slight cliffhanger but the entire series is less than six hours and already released so you’ll be alright.
Narration was very good!
This is book one.

A confusing storyline.

A cliffhanger that has left me scratching my head. It ended way too abruptly. The timeline was confusing. Reed has a girl at the club he wants to marry, yet he is attracted to Hannah. He wants to keep Hannah at home and safe.!? How could Hannah exist while Reed went out of town for 90 days? Why wasn't Hannah more upset about being sold out by her father? Why wasn't she more scared about being sold? Scratching my head here.....
I am thinking Hannah's lack of emotion could be the narrator's fault. Maybe he just didn't portray her correctly.
