This 1769 edition is highly sought after due to being more reader/listener friendly than the 1611 since many typos were fixed.... Most modern productions employ campiness or sound effects to try to bring back that gothic tension, but we've tried something different. Sensitive reading; sub-par abridgement
Any abridgement is bound to be scanty, but this particular shortening leaves loopholes and creates some mild inaccuracies. However, Scofield's reading hides a multitude of sins and is definitely a keeper.
