Wrong narrator

The main character, Jasmine, comes from the crème de La crème of WASPish NY society and her anti-hero, Roth, is a brute of a man. The narrator, who read the story well, did not have the right voice for either of these characters or the supporting characters. This really ruined the story for me. Even the small details like the London concierge not having a British accent annoyed me.

I love it

This book is unique. As an avid reader, I read it a long time ago along with hundreds of others. I don't know if it's the same for you. I can devour books, but few of them really touch my heart. Most are just good and okay, and I soon forget about them. I strongly remembered this book. So much so that I waited months for the next part and was very disappointed when it didn't appear. I value this author very much, especially since I am a writer myself, and I find that the main character is wonderfully constructed. Her feelings, the way she perceives the world and matters, is incredibly real, not only because of the same occupation as mine - she is real as an artist. I feel exactly what she does when I write a book. She is a character with great depth. As for him - we don't really know. The single-person narrative makes him a mystery and it's a very strong aspect of this book. We see contrasting emotions in him - sometimes tenderness, other times ruthless coldness, and throughout the book, the question of who he really is grows. We are left without an answer. I want to find it in the next part and that... attests to the author's talent. Congratulations.
