Publisher's summary

At one time, Corrie ten Boom would have laughed at the idea that she had a story to tell. For the first 50 years of her life, nothing out of the ordinary ever happened to her. She was a spinster watchmaker living contentedly with her sister and their elderly father in the tiny house over their shop in Haarlem. Their uneventful days, as regulated as their own watches, revolved around their abiding love for one another.

But with the Nazi invasion and occupation of Holland, everything changed. Corrie ten Boom and her family became leaders in the Dutch underground, hiding Jewish people in their home in a specially built room and aiding their escape from the Nazis. For their pains, all but Corrie found death in a concentration camp.

Here is a story aglow with the glory of God and the courage of a quiet Christian whose life was transformed by it.

Critic reviews

"Wanda McCaddon does great credit to the writers of this true story. Her emotional control makes the tension and horror of the family’s plight more real and hideous. The listener is left with a story of extraordinary humanity, goodness and overwhelming love." ( AudioFile)

Living Through It

I loved this book! I have not read many World War II books. I felt this book, following the life of Corrie and her family was well written, easy to read, and included many interesting insights into living through that era. I especially love that this book has some happy in with the sad. What an amazing story of faith, love, forgiveness, and healing.

Amazing

This book has followed me through my life since my early teenage years. I first owned a paperback, that eventually was so worn down that I upgraded to a hard cover. And now an audio version????? Amazing!!!! Very well narrated and if life wouldn't interfere in forms of work and other responsibilities - I would have listened to it in a day!!! In times where the world is a pretty shitty place - this book is a great reminder that there is always hope and most of all love! love for fellow humans, good or bad, love for God and love for fleas!

Amazing!

If you haven't read this book, you definitely need to! One of the best I've ever read! There's so much good stuff in here, from understanding the evils humans are capable of to understanding what godly character looks like. If I were in education, this would be required reading for every high school student. This is an amazing book that everyone should read!

Penetrating

This story reads with the detail of a fictional character; however, Corrie Ten Boom was very much alive. She found peace and joy during one of the most horrific events of the 20th century. Her story is at the very least inspirational. I’m thankful for her story because she has helped me remember my hiding place.

Most Beautiful Story of Love/Forgiveness

This book changed my life. It made me let go of so much hate for so many silly little things , and help me stop hating myself. I originally was lead to this book by a sermon I saw on YouTube, Steven Furtick - “A Message on Letting Go” , where he quoted Corrie Ten Boom-“Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow. It empties today of its strength”. This intrigued me research “Corrie Ten Boom”, which after reading a small summary, I felt compelled to read her story. It felt like I cried through this entire story day after day as I read/heard this story over audible. Once it concluded I was crying like a baby, wishing I could have meet this amazing woman , gave her hug , tell her she is beautiful, strong, brave, and that she filled my heart with love. P.S. I cannot wait to thank you in person, when I meet you up in heaven. Thank you.

Powerful story that needs to be remembered

A real personal story of the horrors perpetrated by Nazi Germany and how Christ's light and forgiveness helped bring love, hope and healing in many places during and after the war. An inspiring story. Wish I'd listened to it sooner.
