Since he was a small boy, Mosab Hassan Yousef has had an inside view of the deadly terrorist group Hamas. The oldest son of Sheikh Hassan Yousef, a founding member of Hamas and its most popular leader, young Mosab assisted his father for years in his political activities while being groomed to assume his legacy, politics, status... and power. But everything changed when Mosab turned away from terror and violence, and embraced instead the teachings of another famous Middle East leader.
In Son of Hamas, Mosab Yousef—now called “Joseph”—reveals new information about the world’s most dangerous terrorist organization and unveils the truth about his own role, his agonizing separation from family and homeland, the dangerous decision to make his newfound faith public, and his belief that the Christian mandate to “love your enemies” is the only way to peace in the Middle East.

This is one of the best non-fiction audio books that I've ever listened to. Every Christian and Muslim needs to hear his story. It will give you much insight into the situation in the Middle East from a different perspective than you've probably heard.I always hear the struggle from the view point of Western Christians and I've often wanted to hear the story from the side of a Palestinian who honestly wanted peace and truth.
My heart ached for Mosab's family as I read the story, motivating me to pray for them. I have a Muslim friend whom I want to give the book to. She is a Palestinian Israeli and I know that she longs for peace. I pray that his story might lead her to that Peace. Most definitely worth the price of purchase and the time invested to listen.
I spend about 55 hours a week driving and really enjoy having a good book to pass the miles.
Just finished Son of Hamas by Mosab Hassan Yousef. I found it pretty insightful and easy to follow. He gives you the perspective of a young Palestinian man growing up in the occupied territories. I found it interesting how he eventually saw the dirty underbelly of a corrupt terrorist organization and worked with the Israeli's secret police to try and incapacitate it. His views on Christianity are eye opening. A great book to read if you're at all interested in the Palestinian peace process. The narration is very well done.
What an incredible story! I couldn't stop listening, anticipating what would happen next. I honestly can't wait to go through it again!
Great view of the happenings going on in the Middle East and with the kingpins of the government as well as spiritual and militant leaders
As the courageous authors points out, there's a at least a small chance that minds can be changed and the violence can stop. Maybe some people in the Middle East will read this book and question the tactics being used. The religious zealots will never give up the power but perhaps some young people can be spared from fanaticism.
Masab, his courage is unbelievable.
The author is also the narrator. His words come alive in the narration as he is speaking from the heart.
The whole thing is memorable, suspenseful and spiritual.
His ability to communicate with clarity, detail, honesty and humility concerning matters of religious and political controversy. are amazing.
Redemption in Palestine. It is being made into a film called The Green Prince, released mid September 2014.
I haven't felt this riveted or inspired by a book since reading Laura Hillenbrand's Unbroken, which has a similar theme of forgiveness among enemies and personal and cross-cultural redemption. The book is at once an espionage thriller and a sermon that enlightens my perceptions of Israelis, Palestinians and deepens my Christian faith. It gives me hope for the Middle East where I have felt so little.
I cannot compare since I did not read the printed version of this book.
The story was presented in a non-predijucal manner. It was like reading a tradegy. And there are still no answers.
A Middle east Tradegy
I read a lot of self development books, and while this book is not considered part of that genre it may have changed my way of thinking as much or more than most of the others.
A unique view into a dark confusing situation, a fast read, highly recommend if you're interested in middle east politics and an inside view of Terrorist organizations such as Hamas and the Palestine government which exploits and murders people on both sides of the conflict
