Never forgotten

I loved the book. I didn't get the pleasure to read this novel in high school but I'm glad I got to listen to it now. It breaks my heart to what happened in history.

Compelling

A great combination of Elie Wiesel's story and George Guidall's performance makes this a masterful listen. I could have said wonderful but that is probably not the proper word considering the subject. However, the story--autobiography--Elie writes is so realistic and detailed it draws an exceptional picture of this period of horror and terror.

George Guidell is at his best...

It's a depressing & sad book, but I had to listen!

I still don't know why, but Elie Wiesel grabbed my attention from the first word until the very last word. To hear the struggle from a teenager in the midst of one of the worst atrocities in history, was spellbinding.

I normally have big problems listening to such evil behavior. My Dad was in the Bataan Death March and in a POW camp in the Philippines, Japan and in Korea. So, I have a hard time listening to concentration camp stories as it pains me to know that my Dad had to suffer as badly as the story being told. At the same time, if I don't listen to history, good, bad or evil, I will be the poorer. I and all of humanity need to know history so we won't make the same mistakes again or allow our leaders to make the same mistake.

The book is well written, the narration is one of the best I have ever heard. You will not be wasting your money on this book.

Completely Captivating

I just couldn't stop listening to this incredible story....I found it was a memoir that was sensitively written and will no doubt be painful for many to listen to. Beautifully narrated by Guidall, it's a compulsory read so we may never forget the atrocities that occurred to so many.

George Guidall performed this beautifully! I envisioned the entire story from point to point as he told it. Elie's book is eloquent and poetic. To say that Elie's story touched me, is simply not enough. I am thankful that Elie shared his story with humanity, and I am glad that I took the time to listen.

Terribly horrific story that needed to be told

This is a story about an awful time in man's history told from the perspective of a young man. It is a book that everyone should read. Poignant memories

Heartbreaking

This story was heartbreaking. I couldn't put it down. I downloaded it becuase my son was reading it for high school. I only wished the story continued.

Every child and adult should read this!

I got this book because my oldest son was reading it in his high school class. They later took a trip to the Museum of Tolerance. He was so impressed by the book that he asked me to read it too. This is my sons heritage: Their grandfather came to America right before Elie went to a concentration camp and was about the same age. Even though he didn't have to live through what the book described the experience had a profound effect on him, he has never recovered his faith and hated it when I tried to teach this to my boys. He now thinks your faith and/or heritage is something to hide because you never know when this could happen again. Even though my boys are only half Jewish and only by birth I'm glad there are writings like these to show them why it is important to remember the past.
