BLEEPING BOOK

I was interested in hearing her story but quit after 30 minutes, the words being bleeped out was annoying. Guess I might have to read it.

Had to stop after 30 minutes of listening

I'm sure Ms. Wilson's story is an interesting one, but the audio production was very distracting because they used long beeps when information in the book had been redacted. The listener has no way of knowing when a redaction is coming, and the continuous beeping is very annoying. It ruined my interest in the story.

The bleeping out makes it impossible to listen to

I understand the government has security concerns with this book, but to bleed out literally half a sentence every sentence makes it impossible to listen to. Why write a book, when literally every detail that makes a good book a good book is bleeped out. I am very interested in the intelligence world, but this was over the top impossible to listen to.

Read the book…

I listened to anothe of he author’s books and was really excited amd interested to listen to her story in her own words and voice. Unfortunately the incessant, constant interuptions of the bleeeeeeeping to indicate COA censored materials was annoying to the point that I abandoned the audio book. It would have been much better if they simply stated at the outset that sensitive details were left out because of security issues, and then just read the book! I agree with another reviewer that listening to this with constant interruptions made thos audio book useless. I will read the author’s book in print. Sorry to have wasted a credit on this.

Interesting but for the bleeps

There are many parts of this book that have been censored by the government. To emphasize this, the book was not re-edited and the censored portions have been audibly "bleeped." The bleeps occur in the middle of almost every paragraph, length varying based on the amount of censorship I suppose. While in print this would probably be ok, I found it annoying to the point that I could not finish the book.

What a shame because otherwise Ms. Plame's story is so intriguing.

Ruined by redactions

Seems like a fascinating story. The frequent, annoying redaction tones ruin it. I made it to chapter 4, when I finally had enough.

I hate to say it, cause I agree with Ms. Plame on the politics here, but this book is not listenable at all. 1 star.

Rédaction tones/constant bleeps are distracting

This sounds like an interesting book. After watching the movie, I was eager to listen to the book. However, there are constant redaction tones, bleeps that interrupt sentences and paragraphs. So much so, it is difficult to comprehend the gist of the conveyed thought. It would be great if this was edited to remove the bleeps indicating redactions. Readers are aware and informed that redactions are present but we would appreciate and enjoy hearing the story without them. The narration is absolutely wonderful. Please consider offering an edited, sans bleeps version.

Constant Interruptions

I really was looking forward to hearing this woman's story. The problem is that because it is about the CIA, it has to be reviewed before it can go public. The CIA took out details they didn't want anyone to know. In order to show the listeners what had been blacked out by the CIA, there is a long BEEEP in the reading. It is so frequent! It ruins the flow of the story! It drove me crazy so much that I cannot finish the book. This problem was not handled well. There should have been another way to deal with this without constant interruptions.

why bother

So much of the text is blanked out that any quality of her story goes right out the window. It's just too annoying listening to all of the beeping.

Couldn't Finish

I understand what the publisher was attempting to do with the "tones" to prove the point of all the CIA eliminated from the book. However, although this might work in the printed form, it was a poor, poor, poor choice in the audio version. Despite several attempts to "get past it," I had to stop (about 30 minutes in) as it interfered with the story. PLEASE don't waste your money on this audio version...buy the printed form!!!
