Publisher's summary

The number one New York Times best-selling author of The Book of Lost Friends and Before We Were Yours presents an uplifting novel set in a small Texas neighborhood where unexpected challenges and new relationships give deeper meanings to "home".

When 18-year-old Tam Lambert learns that her family’s upscale home is in foreclosure, the life she's known is forever changed. Tam and her family must move into a tiny house in a changing Dallas neighborhood called Blue Sky Hill....

New resident Shasta Reid-Williams knows nothing of real estate schemes when she and her husband purchase a home in Blue Sky Hill. To her, it’s the perfect place to raise her children. Better yet is getting to know Tam, who lives right across the street. When neighbors realize that a corrupt deal could force them from their homes, friendships and loyalties are tested.

Over the span of one summer, two young women discover the strength and maturity to do the impossible. They find that even in Blue Sky Hill, life-altering relationships and amazing possibilities can begin to blossom....

Critic reviews

"Beyond Summer is beyond good. It’s great!" (Sandra Dallas, New York Times best-selling author)

"A timely story about finding strength and wealth in the most unlikely of places." (Booklist)

"If you are looking for a great book this summer, be sure to put Beyond Summer on your reading list. The characters will find a place in your heart. I didn't think I would ever find a book that came close to Tending Roses, but Beyond Summer might have matched it." (The McGregor Mirror TX)

Hard listen

While this was another wonderful book by Wingate it was not the best narration in my opinion. Made the story somewhat difficult to listen to.

Great read

This is an older Lisa Wingate novel. But great. As always the characters are so well developed and engaging. If you like her novels, go read the ones you have not read in the past.

The relationships that develop between the characters is truly heartwarming. A great story of friendship built on hardship.

Good listen with a good message

As with all of her books, Lisa Wingate writes beautifully and creates entirely believable characters that make you feel sad to leave behind when the book ends. Beyond Summer was fun because she incorporates characters from other books in the Blue Sky series. I have to say that while the homeless woman in this book was included for a reason, I didn’t like her. Maybe that was on purpose, but in my opinion her story was never fully resolved. But definitely a good read with messages about class and the meaning of true friendship.

One of Lisa Wingate’s Best

The main characters in this book were so authentic and genuine. I also was happy to see the evolution of Uncle Poppy’s house, and the further development n

Character development—unreal

Wingate is unreal at developing characters and connecting their story plots across multiple novels! A master at literacy, she does it again! Great story and narration!
