Publisher's summary

Luna is a young woman in her 20s with a spark of innocence, but not without wits and intellect. She also happens to be a witch, a trade that has been passed on through generations. However, she knows not to use magic for the wrong reasons, and to always use it within reasonable boundaries.

Her life with her black cat seems to be flawless, and her new gift shop is, however challenging, successful enough for her to make a decent living. But trouble is in the air. During a festive parade, she is pointed towards a dead body by a little girl. The girl’s father, a detective, sees something in the future amateur sleuth and asks her to accompany him in his investigation of the murder.

Moreover, Luna takes advice from a witch with a nose for darkness, Agatha, who is trying to put her on the wrong path.

Will Luna helps solve the case?

Will she fall for the single father, the handsome detective?

Will she succumb to the temptations of her fellow witch?

Great!

I love this book - it makes me smile to hear the occasional super-formal word in normal conversation. These are so perfectly out of place it’s genius. Bruxo is a good cat. Descriptions are vivid. The romance is good. Narration is good. Mop!

Nice story

The story about the witch who is still young and new in town. She sounds like an ideal barbie, but doesn't behave like one. Overall, I think this character is very sweet, and perhaps in other books, if the author continues with her, she'll show a few darker sides too. The comes across as very innocent and maybe a little gullible sometimes, but not stupid. I liked her, and if I like the main character, it makes the book itself that much more likable. Whatever comes after that, is usually okay because then I want her to succeed and be happy. It's hard to like a book if you don't feel anything for the protagonist, so in that sense, I've found a good one. I recommend it. I do realize not everyone will like it, because opinions always vary, but I had a good experience listening to this audiobook.

Fun and entertaining

The main character in this witchy mystery is witty and young, but she also has a knack for finding out who murdered the person she found in the water. I won't spoil much else of the story, but it's a lot of fun. Worth it, if you ask me.

Nice detective book

I love mystery books like this. It's the right length, not too long, and not dragging, but there are still details in there that help me understand the situation better.

Worst audiobook ever! Horrible narration with no emotion whatsoever! I don’t know how this even made it to publication

I am Baffled but not Behexed

There is something wrong with this story. There is no way the author, Rachel Swenson, is even close to fluent in English or maybe the book was written in another language and someone used Google Translate. Words were chosen that didn’t fit the context even if the definition was right. Expressions were mangled.
I was disappointed that the detective and his assistant did an incredibly poor job of trying to solve the crime. Very shallow thinkers. For example, a family member doesn’t get interviewed because who would want to murder a sibling? !!! Maybe a elementary school child wrote this.
Luna flies around town on a mop but no one notices! Humans don’t know about witches but a cop allows Luna to add “ truth potion” to the suspect’ s drink. The suspect does tell the whole truth and the human cops don’t notice something weird happening during the interview.
Oh well. Don’t buy this book or the sequel to be.
The narrator was okay and in fact the best part of the audiobook-even just being okay.
