Publisher's summary

Lilly Echosby just witnessed a murder on a pet cam. Or did she?

When a last-minute opportunity arises to accompany her boss to an art auction in Atlanta, Lilly throws some money at the problem of where to board her toy poodle Aggie (short for Agatha Christie). Posh Pet Haven offers the most luxurious canine accommodations in all of Chattanooga, Tennessee. The place even provides pet cams so anxious owners can check in on their pampered pooches.

But when Lilly tries to take a peek at her poodle, she gets a terrible shock - she witnesses what she's sure is a murder. She thinks the victim may be the wealthy co-owner of Pet Haven. The police follow her lead but find no body, no evidence of a crime, and no video record. Starting to feel like the dog owner who cried wolf, Lilly decides to go undercover to catch a killer who may be hiding in plain sight...

3.5 Stars 🌟

This is the third book in a series that I do not think I ever thought I would enjoy. But, enjoy it I do. I think that this is considered a "cozy" mystery (I'm actually not sure) and honestly, I think I need to go and look up what constitutes a "cozy" mystery. If I were to give you my opinion on why I enjoy this series, it would be simple.

The story is very easy to read and not too challenging. It is fairly superficial, with lots of random day to day activities being told in a way that border on almost being boring, but it skirts the line fairly well. I like the fact that there is also a dog (a poodle) as one of the main characters and that there is another character that is an expert on dog training. (I have a puppy so the day to day items actually have things that I find interesting and helpful...weird, I know).

The female MC is a middle-aged mother who often finds herself in the middle of a mess. (So far in this series there have been several murders). She and her daughter - who is an attorney - find themselves trying to investigate these cases and its sometimes enjoyable as they often get into even more trouble. In this case, it deals with a murder at the doggie day care that Aggie (Lilly's poodle) is staying at that Lilly just happens to see on the camera feed when she checks in on her dog.

Regardless, I like to listen to this when I need something easy and not too mentally complex. It always wraps up nicely with the killer being unveiled in a kind of "ta da" moment.

So - dogs, murders, mother-daughter murder mysteries......what more do you want?

Enjoyed it but too many OMG’s

Another good story and I didn’t figure out the murderer. This time for some reason, I fell for the red herring. Only annoying part is that there were too many OMG’s by everyone! I like Red. He is a really nice guy, who cares very much for Lily but I am beginning to feel that Lily is becoming a monster. I will be getting the next book and I hope that I am wrong about Lily.

Bark If It’s Murder

I will have to say I had a hard time putting this 3 rd in the Dog Club Mystery Series down until completed. Ms. Burns has not had a drop off in story interest that began in Book 1. My favorite books are those that include suspense, great characters & animal friends. This series has all that & more. I’m already looking forward to Book 4!
