The unique life story of one of the most talented and inventive comedians, star of Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and Star Trek.
Zombies in North London, death cults in the West Country, the engineering deck of the Enterprise: actor, comedian, writer and self-proclaimed supergeek Simon Pegg has been ploughing some bizarre furrows in recent times. Having landed on the U.S. movie scene in the surprise cult hit Shaun of the Dead, his enduring appeal and rise to movie star with a dedicated following has been mercurial, meteoric, megatronic, but mostly just plain great.
From his childhood (and subsequently adult) obsession with science fiction, his enduring friendship with Nick Frost, and his forays into stand-up comedy that began with his regular Monday morning slot in front of his 12-year-old classmates, Simon has always had a severe and dangerous case of the funnies. Whether recounting his experience working as a lifeguard at the city pool, going to Comic-Con for the first time and confessing to Carrie Fisher that he used to kiss her picture every night before he went to sleep, or meeting and working with heroes that include Peter Jackson, Kevin Smith, and Quentin Tarantino, Pegg offers a hilarious look at the journey to becoming an international superstar, dotted with a cast of memorable characters, and you're rooting for him all the way.

The Faithful Traveler
I love Simon Pegg, and nearly every movie he's been in. This audiobook is fantastic--his reading is awesome, the stories are fun. BUT WHY is it abridged?! I didn't realize that (I know, I wasn't paying attention in my excitement in getting this book) until AFTER I'd listened to it, then started reading some interviews about it, and thought, "Hey, that wasn't in the book!" Now, what? I have to buy the book itself and REREAD it to get the missing bits?!
BOO Randomhouse. Boo.
Who wants to buy half a book? Seriously? BOO.
A friend introduced me to the world of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost a few years back and I became an instant fan of both. In Nerd Do Well, Simon has this way of viewing the world that is slightly askew and innocent at the same time. Love, loved this book. I like that he doesn't take himself too seriously and like that he added a 'sci-fi' story element. I laughed out loud, I smiled, I'm a fan. Excellent book. I definitely recommend this.
My favorite genres are absurdist humor, Sci-fi & modern fantasy, but, as you can see, I'll read just about anything. Don't mind the typos.
Not really a straight forward bio but entertaining all the same. If you enjoy SP then you should like this one. Lost a star for the short length.
Don't know, but it was read incredibly well by Pegg.
I wish he had covered more, in more detail. His childhood tales are really engaging, colorfully told, and they are just the right length. However, once we get to more present-day, he doesn't divulge a heck of a lot, it's more broad strokes detail and some anecdotes. The fictional side-story of the book was ambitious and risky, but it mostly pays off.
You Have Him Pegged
Wish this was at least 8 hours! Pegg is a top notch narrator.
Scientist, Atheist, Humanist, and Historian. I don't know everything, but I know enough to know if you're full of it!
I haven't read the print version, though I imagine that the audio version blows the print version out of the water!
Canterbury the metro-sexual android was my favorite character simply because who wouldn't like a robot with tits painted on its chest plate?!
I really enjoyed Pegg's description of the making of Shawn of the Dead.
Not particularly, but I don't think it was supposed to be a moving book.
Simon needs to stop being a twat and write another book! I would love to read it!
Have a renewed interest in books after falling in love with audio books. I am listening to all different genres and exploring different authors.
I enjoyed Simon's autobiography - but I also enjoyed his short story. I love his imagination and creative flair, but he is down to earth and funny. Didn't realize that this was abridged version - so somewhat disappointed by that.
I loved Simon Pegg's performance and enthusiasm in telling is own story. I was a semi-fan before listening to this book, now I am a true fan.
Pegg. His failures and triumphs make a wonderful story.
His story told in his own voice, complete with the corresponding emotional experiences.
