Publisher's summary

Hello there. Welcome to my autobiography.

Throughout this audiobook I talk about my life and work, including Little Britain, Come Fly with Me, Bridesmaids, Les Miserables, Alice in Wonderland and, of course, Shooting Stars. The thing is, this is a bit different to most memoirs you may have listened to, because it comes in the form of an A-Z. For instance, B is for Baldy! Which is what people used to shout at me in the playground (not much fun). G is for Gay (because I'm an actual real-life gay), and T is for the TARDIS (because I'm a companion in Doctor Who now). You get the sort of thing.

Anyway, I hope you buy it at least twice. Thank you.

Critic reviews

"One of the biggest and most talented comedy stars that the UK has ever presented." (Peter Capaldi)
"Matt is not only hilarious and kind, he's probably the most generous person I know. All of which is wonderfully evident in this book." (Rebel Wilson)
"To be truly unique in this world is almost impossible to achieve; this book is about someone who achieved it. Raw, honest, funny and moving." (James Corden)

Great book

This was very funny from start to finish. I especially appreciated the voices and learning how each character was developed. I would defiantly recommend this book.

Delightful.

Matt gives an enchanting peek inside his wild ride of a life. I didn't know exactly who he was when I began, I had only seen the Q2 Les Miz on PBS. I wondered why would he write a memoir? I am glad that I took a chance on it. It is full of interesting antidotes from a life in comedy, the theatre and many notes from just living. It is very enjoyable and I highly recommend it.

Quite Good, from an American

Heartwarming and endearing. A fascinating look into what it took to become a household name in British comedy, and all the anxieties that come with. I fear I've fallen for this man Matt Lucas. My potential suitors will need to up their game to match.

Absolutely love Matt

This is a splendid memoir. I could full stop “love” at Matt’s dedication to Arsenal (I too am a Gunner), but his excellent summary of how complex comedy is, his career track, only adds to the joy. I will look on his work with so much more appreciation and I’ll dream of having a pint with him at Highbury.

Food

Thank you Matt Lucas for sharing.
Food was my favourite part and I havent laughed that deep belly laugh that gives the stomach muscles a slight ache for a long time. 3 ways to eat a maltezer - we all knew it and you are the only one ever to have described it with such remarkable incision.
Great book.

Entertaining, Fun and Humorous

Using the alphabet to describe details of his life, Matt Lucas provides a glimpse into the various events which informed his acting and comedy. His conversational and brisk delivery kept me engaged.

Everything I hoped it would be

If you like Matt Lucas in interviews on Bake Off and other candid appearances you will likely enjoy this book. Moves quickly along but isn’t rushed. You get voices and back stories. I always prefer when the author reads the book, especially this type. Some sadness but he doesn’t dwell on that just tells the story/impact in the way we all have moments. Overall very enjoyable

Funny and thoughtful

Great look back on what the world was like through the eyes of a kid struggling with his sexuality. Loved the stuff on shooting stars and clever to leave that section till the end. Funny and engaging read.
