Publisher's summary

From the bestselling author of A Killer’s Wife, Victor Methos’s acclaimed Desert Plains series continues with the saga of two brilliant defense attorneys and a client whose confession may not be what it seems.

Two couples cut to bits near a canyon close to the Nevada border. The police pull over blood-soaked Arlo Ward not far from the site of the grisly murders; he fully cooperates with the officers, grinning through a remorseless confession dripping with gory detail. Investigators find no murder weapon, but young, awkward Arlo’s confession is signed, taped, and delivered.

Defense attorney Dylan Aster and his partner, Lily Ricci, are two rising legal stars. They’re hesitant about pursuing the Arlo Ward case, as it seems like a slam dunk for the prosecution - Arlo was covered in the victims’ DNA and admitted to everything. But the state psychiatrist shares the impossible with Dylan: Arlo Ward is likely innocent. The man is racked with delusional schizophrenia, seizing on these murders as an opportunity for macabre attention.

Dylan can’t resist. He and Lily take on Arlo as their client, but once the trial commences, it’s clear that the real secrets and lies are just beginning.

Brilliant courtroom drama

Methos is my new favorite author. His Desert Plains series is riveting, gritty, and simply brilliant. The backstory to the characters makes them engaging and the twists and turns throughout the book make it a true page turner.

Narration by Arnell Powell was superb and accurately portrayed the appropriate emotion. So, so good!

Loved it

I love Eric Methos’ writing and thesis doesn’t disappoint. Quick tempo, I walk and listen; I went up on my mileage and lowered my time because I would get lulled into the story’s cadence.

Wow! The surprises kept coming. What a great book!

I was at first a bit bored with the story. It seemed like another slam dunk, but I am so glad I continued reading as I have never read a book that surprised and wowed me as much as An Unreliable Truth.
This emotional rollercoaster of a story had me up all night. Do yourself a favor and read this book.

Good but not the best

I started to listen to this authors books and really enjoyed the series and writing. This being the third in the series, I would say it's not the best one. great story line, just think it dragged a bit in the middle. once you miss a good number of the middle chapters and get to the mid 70s the book picks up again with a great ending. I hope there's more to the series cause the main characters are great and would love to see what comes up next for them.

Excellent Book!

At first I was disappointed because I thought it was going to be a continuation of the other two books with Jessica Hardley's story. However, I kept listening and I am so glad I did because this story was excellent. One of the best listens in a while. Great performance, great story.

Great story with a great ending!

I was interested in this story from the very beginning. I kept trying to figure out where this was headed and never quite figured it out. It has a satisfying and surprising ending, which made it all worthwhile. This was my first Methos book, and I will be searching for more!
