Publisher's summary

A week after a cyber-attack crippled America's power grid, millions are dead - frozen by the worst winter storm in a century, irradiated by exploding nuclear power plants or murdered by ruthless criminals. Millions more starve and battle for survival amidst the ever-worsening conditions.

Despite the long odds, ex-cop Nate Bauer is determined to do whatever it takes to reach his pregnant wife and family in Chicago. Joining him on this perilous journey is 15-year-old Dakota, a young prepper on a mission to find her uncle.

Braving the frozen wastes of Illinois, however, may be the least of their worries, since the road to salvation runs directly through the heart of America's most dangerous city.

Amazing story and great character development

I could not stop listening to this audio book both book 1 and book 2 are amazing ! They keep you on edge and looking for more. I cannot wait for book 3 to be released. They could make these books into a TV series or a video game without many changes.

Enjoyed both books!

Good read. Only thing confusing is that these two books are the same as one full version. Entertaining nonetheless. Would recommend.

A good book following its successor

It’s great and I like how they dropped the annoying noise before the new chapter

Enjoyable, and overall suspenseful.

I enjoyed this, and although the narration on audio was a bit lacking it was fun.

A touch of home

This series has been a great read so far. Being from the midwest, the author did an excellent job on description of the weather during the winter months. Having traveled through the Chicago Airport on multiple occasions, passing through Rockford and surrounding areas of Chi-town suburbs. This book had me in the edge of my chair.
Thanks for the great read...

Great story line

I can’t wait to listen to the next book in the series and I do hope it is as good as the first and second books
