Publisher's summary

Amazon’s Alexa system is one of the most exciting pieces of technology released in the last several years. Being able to tell an electronic speaker like the Echo to play music or engage in conversation is both a great deal of delightful fun and a testament to how far voice-recognition technology has advanced as well as the influence wireless information technology has had on our everyday lives. Even better, Alexa can synchronize the Echo to many things inside and outside the household - hence, you can order food via the internet just by saying a few words to it, or you can even turn the lights on and off by speaking to the Echo instead of heading for a switch.

This audiobook contains:

  • A detailed guide to first setting up your Echo and getting it connected to your Wi-Fi network
  • Explanations of how to change your Echo’s speaker circuit board
  • Advice on making sure your Echo can connect to the internet and solving problems with weak signals or problematic passwords
  • Walk-throughs on using many different internet sites with Alexa’s voice
  • Fun games and secret commands you might not know Alexa recognizes
  • The best ways to train Alexa’s voice-recognition protocols and tips on making sure your Echo won’t lose your voice among the “echoes” in your home
  • Descriptions of the various smart devices you can use with Alexa and troubleshooting guides for problems you may encounter getting them to work with the app
  • An introduction to the Echo Dot, its controls, and its uses
  • Tips on protecting your privacy
  • How to connect to the internet when you are experiencing connectivity problems
  • Tips on helping Alexa to better understand what you are saying
  • What to do when the Echo Dot won’t respond
  • How to update your device’s software
  • A walk-through on blocking or removing unwanted contacts
  • Answers to the most frequently asked Echo Dot questions
  • And more

Absolutely amazing

The audiobook is absolutely amazing. At first, I thought that he was going too fast and maybe got some things wrong, and I had to go over some parts of the audio several times before I understood what it was that I was doing wrong. I have come to realize that his teaching technique is very effective in part because it forces the learner to slowly learn the amazon Alexa Echo service fundamentals.

Comprehensive

After listening to Amazon Alexa and Echo Dot by Mark Howard's audiobook, I finally see what all the hype is about and how to get the most use out of Alexa. This step-by-step manual is jam-packed with useful information. The author is very honest with his thoughts as well and gives great tips that anyone can use. I liked how the book broke everything down in easy to understand terms whether you’ve had Alexa for a while or just getting her out of the box. It’s like getting the inside scoop on Alexa and Amazon’s brains.

I enjoyed learning more about what to expect out of this device and the terms that may be used. Kudos to the author for also adding images to show what he is talking about and how things should look. Some people are visual learners so this really helps. In addition, I think that if you’re new to using Alexa this is a great starting point for you. If you use Alexa already then this is still good to use because it will tell you some tricks you don’t get in the basic manual.

Looks comprehensive as of this moment and I like what I see. If not in this audiobook, an advanced Alexa course would be super where we can making sure our Echo can connect to the internet and solving problems with weak signals or problematic passwords, and also getting some solutions on home automation. This capability is part of the next generation Echo devices such as the Show and the Spot. Thank you! Super job so far.

Easy to read and understand

Purchased this guide along with three others, I can trash the others. After working through this book I feel that I understand and can use the Echo devices with confidence. I have a fire cube and four echo dots. Now going for the smart home items. You won’t need any other books to feel capable of using your devices. Easy to read and understand.

Important info learned

This information is amazingly real and important to me. This guide is depicted in clear vernacular and direct. All tips and traps are uncommonly valuable and supportive. In a general sense, buy this guide if you feel like there are a couple of things that the writers of the official customer's guide neglect to cover and you would incline toward not to glance through the Internet each time you have to add another capacity to your Alexa to help with your consistent plan.
