Publisher's summary

Four women - friends, family, rivals - turn to online dating for companionship, only to find themselves in the crosshairs of a tech-savvy killer using an app to target his victims in this harrowing thriller from the New York Times best selling author of See Jane Run and The Bad Daughter.

Online dating is risky - will that message be a sweet greeting or an unsolicited lewd photo? Will he be as handsome in real life as he is in his photos, or were they taken 10 years and 20 pounds ago? And when he asks you to go home with him, how do you know it’s safe? The man calling himself “Mr. Right Now” in his profile knows that his perfect hair, winning smile, and charming banter put women at ease, silencing any doubts they might have about going back to his apartment. There, he has a special evening all planned out: steaks, wine, candlelight...and, by the end of the night, pain and a slow, agonizing death.

Driven to desperation - by divorce, boredom, infidelity, a beloved husband’s death - a young woman named Paige, her cousin and rival Heather, her best friend, Chloe, and her mother, Joan, all decide to try their hand at online dating. They each download an app, hoping to right-swipe their way to love and happiness.

But one of them unwittingly makes a date with the killer, starting the clock on a race to save her life.

New York Times best-selling author Joy Fielding has crafted a complex, electrifying thriller about friendship, jealousy, and passion - a deadly combination.

Mostly 🍭 , some 🌶

Saskia- you are fabulous. I can’t decide who I love more, you or Nicol Zanzarella, but I like almost anything either of you narrate.

I’ve never read Joy Fielding, but I’m now a fan. It doesn’t really hit the sweet spot if you’re looking for a traditional “thriller”, but I laughed, almost cried and was pleasantly surprised by the tricky ending. The female characters are extremely relatable, and there is just enough edge and suspense to keep it interesting.

Wow. That’s a heck of a cliffhanger

That’s it? No ending? Sure hope there’s next book. It took me awhile to get into the book. Feel like there is more to come.

All the Wrong Places

It was recommended to me by a book club member. I listened to it and enjoyed it. It was a good story without being too graphic or violent.

Wow incredible!

This story had the best of everything. The best aka most vile serial killer, the best mom ever, the best friendship, the best aka deplorable bad people and even a good guy. In addition the writing was excellent and character development was so so good. I really felt like I knew these characters. The plot is engaging and real enough to keep you riveted to the pages or non stop listening. Oh and then there’s the ending!!

Narration was excellent!!

Chick lit with a twist

Honestly, if I hadn't read all of Joy Fielding's other books, I probably wouldn't have stuck with this one. I expected suspense, but most of the story isn't about the stalker at all - it's about the dysfunctional lives of 4 quirky women, their domestic squabbles and their love lives (or lack thereof). About an hour into the book I wondered if I had made a mistake... but as I said, I have read all of Joy's previous books, so I kept on. After a while, I got into the story, even although it seemed like light-hearted chick-lit.
But keep listening, right to the end... boy, I sure didn't see that coming. Well actually, I DID see it coming - but only in an OMG moment right before it happened.

Great story with online dating as plot device

God Bless Joy Fieding! I've read several books from some of my favorite authors this year (2017) and they either injected politics into a story which jarred me out of the story (Carol Goodman-Night Visitors), or they simply fulfilled their contract to put out a book each summer whether it be good or not (Surfside Sisters-Nancy Thayer).

Joy Fielding has a way of writing which pulls you into the story immediately. I was listening to this on audio while painting walls in my friend's house that he was selling, and I never had such a great time painting!

She is now my go-to author for pleasurable fiction. Good plot (online dating--why isn't it used more as a device?) and some good well-thought out characters.

Ending was pure let down!

The ending could have been more suspense and thriller like instead of a dull one. I waited for this book to get more exciting and thriller like but it never got better there.. ever. I enjoyed the story and narrator but I wanted it to be so much more then it was. Wouldn’t have wasted my credit on it. Storyline had great potential to be something a lot more then just a drama the only suspense was waiting for the suspense.

enjoyable

A little predictable but enjoyable. Similar to a harlequin movie with a lot more swearing!
