Publisher's summary

Laurence Fife was a slick divorce lawyer and slippery ladies' man. Until someone killed him. The jury believed that it was his pretty young wife Nikki, so they sent her to prison for eight years. Now, Nikki's out on parole and Kinsey Millhone's in for trouble. Nikki hires Kinsey to discover who really killed her husband. But the trail is eight years cold, and at the end is a chilling twist even Kinsey doesn't suspect, a second eight-year-old murder and a brand new corpse.

"Kinsey Millhone is a female Sam Spade; a thorough professional, a loner, clear-headed, and unsentimental." (Lucille Kallen)

TOO SHORT

I really enjoyed the book, but should have gotten the unabridged version. I will definately continue on in the series, but with the longer versions.

missed the fact it was abridged

i never buy abridged books, such a waste of time and money. Couldn't figure out why parts didn't make sense.

Male voices were awful.

I’ve learned one thing listening to audible. That is that the best narrators do not try to fake the voice of the opposite sex. Instead they rely on subtle cues to get the point across. This narrator would be wise to that.
