Can the sassy American win the shy Brit?

Josie Adams had a brilliant speech writing career in American politics - until a scandal destroyed everything. Unsure what to do with the rest of her life, she moves home with her mother in the Cotswolds.

Journalist Harriet Powell ditched London after getting sacked and divorced within six months of each other. She hopes to find peace in the village, but after meeting Josie, Harry's world will never be the same.

While the two don't see eye to eye on the professional front, it's hard to deny their connection, even if Josie's mum is determined to set Josie up with anyone who isn't Harry.

Can the two conquer their personal and professional struggles to let the other in?

A shot at love

I didn’t like that the whole and I’ve listened to plenty of others books here in audible could not make hardly any sense of this other than some women having sex and what they enjoyed and how they’re in complete extasy about it. I like that but it goes round and round which makes seem like it has no meaning whatsoever so besides saying that one should give love a shot or companionship for that matter the book was good.

Drag

I like TB Markinson, but this story annoyed the bejeezus out of me! The narrator wasn’t good. I had to take several breaks just to get through the whole thing. The American accent was obliterated and it made the story lag for me. I only finished listening because I paid for it.

Will continue...maybe

I’m not sure I can continue this series. I don’t like the narrator. Im sorry to say but the lisp at times was very annoying! Especially when she was trying to move from one accent to the other! The American accent was never consistent either. Sometimes she reverted back.

Well...

I usually love reading/listening to TB Markinson’s books, but this one was a little to slow and gummy for my taste, some of the story was completely redundant.
She writes very well develops the characters well and this book is well developed but as I said too long...
Gabrielle Baker’s voice from time to time sounded bored as well as me... that is why I couldn’t give it 5 stars...

That accent tho

Sweet story but the "American" accent is so bad. I'm not even sure what region they're doing. It's supposed to be Boston I think, but largely southern for some reason mixed with a hard NYC accent. Makes it hard to enjoy as it's so distracting. Hope the rest in this series don't have the same narrator.

The concept was good

The characters were well thought out and were very detailed. The book had a good concept and parts of it I really liked. Much like another book by this author (will not name the book) one of the MC came across as a very weak person which was hard to accept. The MC never did defend herself to the mother and accept for once no one stood up to her in Harry's defense. Why this is written this was I find annoying. The narrator was good and did her best with an American accent... she gets kudos from me.

Painful

I’m not sure if this is simply poorly written, or… the narrator that made it so horrifying! I can’t even finish it!
