An Interesting Listen

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this title. I find it particularly interesting how Virlyce took care to see the world from the zombie's perspective, such as thinking that ropes grow on trees due to circumstances.
It fell off a little after halfway through but picked up again after a chapter or two.

Overall if you think you might be interested after checking out the description or the sample, I would definitely recommend listening to this title.

Not bad for a book about zombies

I don't like zombie books all that much, but I have to say this was a good one.

Please let there be another book.

I can’t help but wonder what will happen next, if a next is to accrue. It’d be disappointing if nothing happens but oh well. Overall, I rather enjoyed the book.

Honestly this was a unique take on the zombie apocalypse

Now I know what you’re thinking when you hear zombie apocalypse book. Either the MC is some retired special ops war hero who can single handedly take out hoarded of people while trying to get back to their family and getting them out of a “safe haven” just before it falls or is working for the government to get the doctor with the cure out of a fallen city. Or it’s about someone who isn’t quite qualified to lead a rag tag group of survivors but who the people choose to listen to as that person has some kind of plot armor that makes it so their insane plans always work.

This story isn’t like that at all, the MC is a zombie. And not some silly zombie who just stumbles around and it becomes a comedy. No, this MC is actually rational, they lost a lot of what made them human, in fact they don’t even consider themselves human. However they are able to learn and grow by watching the surviving humans fight the dumber zombies. It’s a truly terrifying theory as I doubt anyone would survive an apocalypse where the zombies can pass off as humans if they play it right.

I am not sure if I want a sequel or not honestly. I like how it ended, the story isn’t over obviously but it’s not exactly ended on a cliff hanger either. There was no magical “then everything went back to normal” ending (which I assume isn’t a spoiler since anyone who thinks a zombie apocalypse book will end with all zombies dead and all people immune is crazy). Inversely there wasn’t some “then everyone died” ending either. The story ended in a manner I can happily say closed most of the lose ends up nicely. I mean sure a few things were left up in the air such as why the MC seemingly did the one thing that could have caused them to be a “intelligent infected” (going off what we learn later in the book) but since the story isn’t about that but about the after effects of hat action I am happy to leave it where it is.

Pls sequel and go ZOMBIES!!!

First off pls a sequel it was one of the best books I’ve ever listened to. I never thought I’d see the day I would cheer on the zombies or be so sad when big and agile others died. Amazing work just like all of her other books. The beginning is a bit slow but it picks up quickly

It's good from what I can tell

I enjoyed it, definitely an interesting listen. I'm not familiar with the genre but it's definitely got a level of realism and I'm kinda hoping for a second.

Well done

to me this is another win by this author. The story was well-written and not overly complex in explaining our protagonist understanding of the world and how it rationalizes its action. *spoilers* The Double surprise ending was awesome and ties story A&B perfectly at the end, the second surprise I've seen other books try it(dominion blade) and fail at it. Goes to show that it doesn't matter what the character is if that character is well written and likable. *spoilers end* with all that being said it if this is really the end of the story then that ending did feel a little rushed and I see great potential for a second book being lost. Over All great job hope to see more from you Virlyce.

You get what you pay for.

If your looking for a story that fits the books title then look no further. the story follows a zombie who has no memories of her human life just trying to "rationalize" what her existence means. it's graphic and realistic and perfectly fits the title of the book. 10/10
