Publisher's summary

While no-nonsense mother-to-be Cass Halloran tries downplaying her pregnancy and her frequent doctor's visits as an older mother-to-be, a softer side of the lobsterwoman emerges as she joins the Seaside Knitters in knitting an abundance of delicate hats and booties. But in contrast to the happy news, terrifying events unfold at the town's art series that puts a real chill in their New England fall....

Izzy Perry's husband Sam had reservations about inviting his one-time mentor Harrison Grant to speak at the opening reception, although he never imagined the famed and charismatic photographer would rudely embarrass his hosts that evening. But when a dead body turns up along the wooded shoreline the next day, startling secrets come into focus that could undo the tight-knit community of local artists....

With a mysterious murder pitting neighbors against each other, Izzy, Birdie, Nell, and a vulnerable Cass find themselves entangled in a dangerous hunt for answers. Can four best friends somehow tie together scattered clues and pacify a list of potential culprits before a cascade of fallen foliage buries the pièce de résistance of a ruthless killer?

Best of the Seaside Knitters series

I have been hooked on this series since my first read, Patterns in the Sand, and I have grown to enjoy the core characters - Izzy, Nell, Birdie and Cass. And weaving in the knitting lingo is masterful. This story had new depth and was compelling to the end.

Much appreciated and I hope Sally Goldenbaum keeps it going.

Loved it!

This book starts out deeper and darker than previous books in the series but through masterful storytelling, Sally Goldenbaum shows us the light at the end of that deep, dark tunnel,.
The story has all the elements we have come to love in the Seaside Knitters series....knitting, good food, a great mystery with lots of twists and turns, and love....lots and lots of love.
Julie McKay does a spectacular job (as usual) of bringing the characters to life through the gift of her voice. Her performance enhances an already wonderful book, tenfold.

Another great addition to this series.

I love the way that Sally Goldenbaum writes. Julie McKay does a superb job of interpreting her writing. I always feel wrapped in a warm glow.

This story is as well-crafted as the rest of the series. We get to see beloved characters grow and strengthen their friendships just as we are introduced to new, interesting people we hope to meet again in future stories as Izzie’s family and circle of friends expands.

The story stands alone, but is richer if you’ve made it through the earlier books.

Not as good as other books by Sally Goldenbaum

The story was not as good as other books by sally. Very disappointed in the plot. It was hard to follow. Her earlier books are much better.
