Publisher's summary

Jake's confused.

There are shootings in space, fighting in the streets, and Nadine is being friendly. It's the middle of a revolution but Jose is buying welding equipment, Dashi's diverted him to look for a lost ship, and Nadine has volunteered to help. Strange, but Dashi always knows what he's doing.

But with alliances failing and allies fighting each other, what is really going on? Whose side is he on? The good guys? Or the bad?

Jake, Dashi, Jose, Nadine and the Admiral are back in book 4 in the adventures of a Jump space Accountant. If you like strategy over tactics, and thought before action, this series is for you.

Fun Adventure!

This is an inventive, fun, fast-paced space adventure with interesting characters and a sound plot with action and intrigue. The location of this story leads to various exciting events. I enjoyed the clever repartee between Jake and Nadine as well as Jake's analytical and deductive exploits. The narration was highly entertaining. I was provided a free review copy of this audiobook and am voluntarily leaving this unbiased review.

This series is a joy to read!

This is the first series I have read by Andrew Moriarty and I enjoyed each one of these books. The MC continues to develop, is interesting, likeable, and relatable. I am still rooting for him to succeed to matter how he gets the job done. I look forward to reading what Andrew Moriarty writes next! Audio Version: William Turbett does an excellent job narrating the book and narrates the entire series. Each character has their own unique voice and the story is easy to follow.

Amusing

I really enjoyed the bumbling martinet, very Hogan's Heroes. Again a lot of action for stories about an auditing accountant

Saving the Best for Last

This series has been one good story after another. Easily invested in the characters and their adventures. I highly recommend this series.

Poor character development and dialogue

Don’t want to yuck anyone’s yum, but even after putting up with the previous three books in this series, I could not finish the fourth.
The decline of Nadine’s character from someone supposed to be an intellectual equal of Jake (I remember her correcting him on an obscure date a tax act was introduced, for example) to a shallow cartoon was really dismaying.
The dialogue needs editing.
The audio performance is a poor pairing with the dialogue as written. The performer might shine on another project, but here his style of enunciation just becomes more and more painful for my ears (overly precise pronunciation and increasingly cartoony characterization of different voices).
The first book had some interesting ideas, but would have benefited from strong editing. The subsequent books feel rushed.
