Publisher's summary

In this thrilling, no-holds-barred memoir that shows why he is “an inspiration to millions of WWE fans around the world” (Triple H), WWE Champion Drew McIntyre tells the incredible roller-coaster story of his life, from a small village in Ayrshire, Scotland, to the bright lights of WWE.

From a young age, Drew McIntyre dreamed of becoming a WWE Champion and following in the footsteps of his heroes “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and The Undertaker. With his parents’ support, he trained and paid his dues, proving himself to tiny crowds in the UK’s Butlin circuit. At age twenty-two, McIntyre made his WWE debut and was touted by none other than WWE Chairman Vince McMahon as “The Chosen One” who would lead WWE into the future. With his destiny in the palms of his hands, Drew watched it all slip through his fingers.

Via a series of ill-advised choices and family tragedy, Drew’s life and career spiraled. As a surefire champ, he struggled under the pressure of expectations and was fired from the company. But the WWE Universe had not seen the last of this promising athlete. Facing a crossroads, the powerful Scotsman set a course to show the world the real Drew McIntyre.

Buoyed by the support of his wife, Kaitlyn, and the memory of his beloved mother, Drew embarked on a mission to recharge, reinvent, and revitalize himself to fulfill his destiny. This is a story of grit, courage, and determination as a fallen Superstar discovers who he truly is and storms back to reclaim his dream.

Excellent Narration

At 35 years of age, Drew McIntyre is one of the most inspirational and successful professional wrestlers in the world. His life hasn't been an easy one, both in and out of the ring, and all of this, and more, is chronicled in his newly released autobiography: A Chosen Destiny.

I'm fortunate to have received an autographed copy of Drew's book. However, I chose to listen to the audiobook version, through Audible, because it's narrated by Drew himself. Autobiographies read by the author, especially when they are someone famous, makes for a much more intimate and impactful experience. Drew does not disappoint with his narration. He provides a high level of energy and enthusiasm that made me smile and laugh while listening to his audiobook. Drew comes off as a genuinely nice person, and I hope to have the opportunity to meet him someday.

Being that this is a WWE publication, don't expect any meaningful details about Drew's time in TNA. He references it, but it reads like WWE edited out anything beyond the most superficial information about Drew's time there. That's unfortunate because Drew McIntyre had some incredible matches and moments in TNA, so it's a shame that he seemingly wasn't granted permission to explore this part of his career in greater detail in his own book.

If you've watched the WWE 24 documentary about Drew McIntyre on the WWE Network, then you already know most of the information in this book. However, don't let that deter you from taking a deeper dive into the personal and professional issues that Drew had to overcome to fulfill his potential as The Chosen One. I consider myself to be one of the millions of fans in Drew's corner, rooting for him to continue to make his mark on the world. The journey has just begun, and A Chosen Destiny, especially the audiobook version, is an excellent way to celebrate what's been accomplished thus far.

Great story!

Inspiring story of rediscovering your passion and working to achieve your dreams. For those who follows WAE and knew Drew from being a prospect, then a mid-carder, and down to be a jobber, seeing him back to be a main event performer is just incredible and admirable. Recommended read.

So inspiring and RAW!!

OMG!! I really enjoyed listening to Drew McIntrye’s journey that made him the person that he is today. He had a lot of bumps in life but he overcame them successfully. I can’t say which parts of the book are my favorite because there are too many to list. But, I loved how raw this book was and is truly inspiring.

I WISH THERE WERE 6 STARS

I am more of an old school fan, but after reading a book of this quality i am now a Drew fan. Embracing the challange of narration is dificult enough with his accent. Adding in impresions of others was simply amazing.
I would have liked to hear more detail about his non WWE career but other than that no complaints.
Drew does not shy away from the obstacles he faces and as he no doubt does I hope this book helps all who read it.
