i was excited after reading Eldest, but i felt the story just dragged on. I was just sick of it by the end. If the next book is like this one i won't be making the purchase

This book plays well to those that love the details of dwarf and elf culture as much time is spent detailing the activities over a period of time with each. Somehow though, the pages ran out and the story didn't conclude. Disappointing given book 4 isn't out and Paolini released a different story instead.

I don't mind long books- in fact I generally enjoy them. I agree with some people that this book is one battle after another and that Eragon still seems a bit childish. However, I still like the book and think that if you've read the other two- this one should be read as well. I'm just wishing Mr. Paolini would hurry up and come out with the last book. I enjoy the narrator and think that this is a good- but not great book. I also appreciate the fact that I can listen to it with my young children around and not have to worry about vulgarity and bad language.

Well it is obvious that this book was written to satisfy the public who wanted another book in the series and make someone a lot of money. I was stunned, no almost angered to have sat through 29 and a half hours of book to find out the whole story was about a sword? You gotta be kidding me. There is no real progression to the story line of our hero, Eragon. This is a filler book until the author decides to wrap up the series. And hopefully, that will be in the next book because I do not intend to waste my money or time on another book in the series like this one.
One could wait for the next book in the series to come out and be up to speed with Eragon in about a chapter or two, because not really that much happens in this book.
I would highly recommend the abridged version IF you must read this one. It's just not worth sitting through 30 hours of unabridged reading.

Was not as good as the first 2 books. Just seem to drag on in some parts. Did not hold interest for long periods.
