Publisher's summary

Let not your heart be troubled...

Cyril woke up in a hospital bed with a ruined body and no memory of how it happened. His only chance at a normal life was agreeing to a splicer's experiment with a twisted condition: he was forbidden to learn the circumstances surrounding his injuries.

Rose saved a life and wound up exiled from her gang, friendless and broke in Oolytau. Given an out by a notorious mob boss, she found herself in the Tracts working with a man who might be everything she never knew she needed.

Yet, the past has a way of shaping the future, and both would have to confront it in the wilderness with few friends and little hope of rescue. Rose would face the fight of her life, while Cyril must come to terms with the fact that non-humans are - first and last - monsters.

Would YOU love a monster girl?

Another book down and hopefully a lot more to go.

Out of the park again with this one. It was really cool to have this play out the way it did. Can’t wait to tag along in the next book. I’d wager money I know who the next book will follow.

The best book in the series so far!

This story was for me the most creative and engaging in this series thus far. The main character is no super being, he is just a regular guy that somehow attracts Rose

good

writing seems to be slipping a bit downhill with some ranty filler lines about sluty clothing and asking for it and crap like that. the rest of the story is pretty great.

Okay my expectations have been subverted in a good way when I first heard that Daniel was going to narrate I thought he was going to do his normal shitty Malases flowing pace that made me think he has been getting paid by recording length, instead he dose a great job and is finnally the eual to his co-narrator if this is how he is going to narrate from now on I'll definitely be looking forward to his new work. or they sped him up in editing idk time will tell.

A bittersweet but otherwise great entry

This is one of my favorite series, and I believe the only series where I exempt my preference for a consistent set of main characters.

This book is no different in terms of quality. The story itself was interesting in that it tackles an ethical quandary that a previous story inadvertently created.

I think that is what the author is so good at with this series, he is able to tell an interesting, unique tale that also fleshes out the world bit by bit.

Narration of course was solid as usual.

I'm actually hoping the dragon lady gets a story since we know a person who successfully delve her dungeon and steal any part of horde is a mjornturn on, so here is hoping to an Monster girl Ocean 11 love story.

why the change

I enjoyed this book greatly I truly did I dont understand why the change in narrators they did great as each book is a new view in a larger story but once they bring in charecters from the other books the change is noticeable and not great 8/10 but I still enjoyed the story

Another amazing Audio book by Cebelius!

Don't read this book first! Could you? Yeah sure but you'd miss out on the amazing world Cebelius is building. I almost think we need a map. Start at book one Velise. That being said I really liked Rose. This is in a way a sweet heart story that's almost love at first sight. With some blood and gore mixed in. Not going to spoil. Just read and listen. Daniel Wisniewski and Rebecca Woods are amazing together and have the just right chemistry to keep you riveted. Well done!

Great book, but...

I've been following this series since book 1, and I've enjoyed it immensely. Honestly I'd love it if the author wrote some sort of Codex I could own containing all the setting information, lore, character profiles, illustrations, etcetera. I'd buy some sort of "Would You Love a Monster Girl" compendium in physical print in a heartbeat.
I liked this book, but my major concern is that we're introducing so many new characters that end up in these sort of advantageous roles, that the overall plot and substance is getting too thin. The previous works were certainly much more slow-burn, which helped to really flesh out the characters and their motivations, but Rose (the book) was certainly more fast paced from point to point. I understand that the characters were sort of thrown together into what amounted to a box, so to speak, but I think it make this book lack the charm of the previous installments.
That said Rebecca and Rose were fun characters, and I couldn't help but feel bad for the former when everything was said and done. Becca definitely gave me "but I can fix her" vibes that were only further reinforced by Mrs. Woods' vocal performance for that character. Rose was also fun, but perhaps definitely the most shallow of the author's female leads so far. Going forward I can only hope Cebelius returns to a more slow-burn plot with characters that have some depth to them. Especially in terms of a female lead.
All in all, if you like the previous installments, definitely get this title. Just don't expect the sort of mystery and intrigue found in the other books.
