Publisher's summary
“What does she want from me?” A young Iranian immigrant panics as she’s being chased through the streets by an unknown blonde woman. When their two worlds collide, the answer to that question becomes increasingly unsettling in Afsaneh Gray’s The Other Woman, a bracingly unpredictable audio experience. The two women find they share similar struggles in a society that doesn’t see them…but as their relationship develops, what feels like liberation begins to shift into an all-too-familiar dynamic. The Other Woman is an enthralling erotic thriller that explores cycles of power and exploitation all the way to its unsettling conclusion.
Playwright Afsaneh Gray was awarded a commission through the Audible Emerging Playwrights Fund, an initiative dedicated to developing innovative original plays driven by language and voice. As an Audible-commissioned playwright, she received funding and creative support to develop The Other Woman.
Directed by Elayce Ismail.
Sound design and original music by Melanie Wilson.
This audio play contains strong language and deals with mature themes. Listener discretion advised.

Story
It was 1970 in a defeated Rhode Island fishing town. Vietnam and Nixon dominated the national news. Both the near and distant future looked bleak. But they were five inseparable high school friends with something incredible in common: an unwavering resolve to look after each other no matter what hell life threw at them. And they were on a mission. The plan was simple: Go off the grid before they turned 18 to avoid the draft. They’d sell some grass, stack some cash, then head west and start a commune. What could possibly go wrong?

Buckhead isn’t a place you live, it’s a place you survive. And that applies even to the wealthy housewives that have it all. Fancy cars, designer clothes, and daily salon appointments aren’t nearly enough to keep them fulfilled and happy. Because in this town, privilege and opulence go hand in hand with betrayal and revenge. Jenny, the owner of Glow, an exclusive membership-only beauty salon, knows that better than anyone, because she knows everything about these housewives—down to each individual strand of hair.

Story
Center of the YOUniverse is an out-of-this-world spectacle starring Tituss Burgess and Jane Krakowski with music, laughter, and (probably) the salvation of humanity from its self-inflicted doom. Unaware of just how brightly the other one shines, Tituss and Jane will attempt the impossible: a double-booking. In a unique blend of song and storytelling, they’ll stop at nothing to upstage each other and steal the spotlight…until they realize the true purpose of being ridiculously attractive and having immeasureble talent: to unite and heal the world.

Story
Wally Roux is a teenage genius with a big imagination and a big heart, who just moved to Savannah, GA, from Maine with his mom, who adopted him when he was an infant. In this charming and sweet solo performance, Wally investigates what is causing a number of strange events and occurrences. He explores and gets lost within space-time - an infinite, indefinable, and mysterious void that you can’t see but when you slice into it you can feel it.

1) Excellent performance; 2) But why the F-bombs?

Weird
I'm into a lot of weird books and stories, but this was just bizarre. One of the weirdest things I've ever listened to and didn't turn out the way I expected at all.

Unexpected twist
That was different. I wasn’t sure what was really going on until the end . I’m still unsure of how I really feel about the story but it kept my interest throughout.

Confusing
Hard to follow.
But I did listen all the way through hopeful for it to turn around and make sense. But it never did.

So off
Really unrealistic. Tries to be erotic, but misses the mark. Tries to be suspenseful, but fails.

It was okay. I was expecting more suspense. It was almost there.
I thought the book was ok. I was expecting more suspense and detail. The scenes seem to skip a little bit.

Good acting, ok story
The actors were great but the story only ok. I read the reviews and it’s definitely not as gruesome as I had expected. It’s a short story and I didn’t see the end coming. Give it a go just for the fun of it.

Intense
This is a short but very intense story about control. Plenty of sex and violence. Will make you say "oh my!"
