Forgiveness is a deep personal journey, an internal shift that releases the grip of resentment and bitterness. It is about freeing oneself from the emotional weight of past hurts, not necessarily about the other person. It is a choice you make for your own well-being, a conscious decision to let go of the anger and pain that are poisoning your spirit. This internal transformation can be profound, even transformative, offering a sense of peace and freedom that transcends the actions of others.

Poverty is big business in America. The federal government spends about $900 billion a year on programs that directly or disproportionately impact poor Americans, including antipoverty programs. States and local governments spend tens of billions more. Ironically, these enormous sums fuel the "corporate poverty complex," a vast web of hidden industries and entrenched private-sector interests that profit from the bureaucracies regulating the lives of the poor.

In today’s chaotic world, where the multiplication of information sources creates competing narratives, credibility is the key to winning the war of ideas. This is the reason why governments and corporations resort to astroturfing - creation of ostensibly grassroots movements set up to advance political agendas and commercial campaigns. The democratization of information and polarization of politics offer a perfect storm.

When the news broke in 1975 that New York City was on the brink of fiscal collapse, few believed it was possible. How could the country's largest metropolis fail? How could the capital of the financial world go bankrupt? Yet the city was indeed billions of dollars in the red, with no way to pay back its debts. Bankers and politicians alike seized upon the situation as evidence that social liberalism, which New York famously exemplified, was unworkable.

An eye-opening account of how Congress today really works - and doesn’t - that follows the dramatic journey of the sweeping financial reform bill enacted in response to the Great Crash of 2008. The founding fathers expected Congress to be the most important branch of government and gave it the most power. When Congress is broken - as its justifiably dismal approval ratings suggest - so is our democracy.

The American economy is strong in large part because nobody believes that America would ever default on its debt. Yet in 1933, Franklin D. After the Reconstruction era, Black people were stuck working for former slave owners on farms and plantations throughout the United States. Although they were technically no longer slaves, they endured harsh and unfair treatment. During the early 20th century, we saw the fruits of our labor come to fruition when Black businesses opened in parts of the country. Black people understood that because of our history and Jim Crow, we could not just work for anyone and expect a fair shake. We had to rely on our resiliency and fighting spirit to persevere.

Story20
From the lead prosecutor on the Enron investigation, an eye-opening examination of the explosion of American white-collar crime. If "corporations are people, too", why isn't anyone in jail? A serious defect in a GM car causes accidents; Enron scams investors out of their money; banks bet on the housing market crash and win. In the race to maximize profits, corporations can behave in ways that are morally outrageous but technically legal.
