Reseñas editoriales

One of the most complicated and invasive systems we face as Americans is the IRS. Congressman John Linder and radio host Neal Boortz have made it their duty to not only help Americans understand our system, but to see how broken it is and what we can do to fix it. Performed by the fiery Boortz, himself, The FairTax Book is an educational and entertaining audiobook that easily explains just what we should do to fix our broken tax system. Whether you are simply interested in the economy or you're a cursing storm come April 15th, The FairTax Book is a must listen.

Resumen del Editor

Wouldn't you love to abolish the IRS...Keep all the money in your paycheck...Pay taxes on what you spend, not what you earn...And eliminate all the fraud, hassle, and waste of our current system?

Then the FairTax is for you. In the face of the outlandish American tax burden, talk-radio firebrand Neal Boortz and Congressman John Linder are leading the charge to phase out our current, unfair system and enact the FairTax Plan, replacing the federal income tax and withholding system with a simple 23 percent retail sales tax on new goods and services. This dramatic revision of the current system, which would eliminate the reviled IRS, has already caught fire in the American heartland, with more than six hundred thousand taxpayers signing on in support of the plan.

As Boortz and Linder reveal in this first book on the FairTax, this radical but eminently sensible plan would end the annual national nightmare of filing income tax returns, while at the same time enlarging the federal tax base by collecting sales tax from every retail consumer in the country. The FairTax, they argue, would transform the fearsome bureaucracy of the IRS into a more transparent, accountable, and equitable tax collection system. Among other benefits, it will:

  • Make America's tax code truly voluntary, without reducing revenue
  • Replace today's indecipherable tax code with one simple sales tax
  • Protect lower-income Americans by covering the tax on basic necessities
  • Eliminate billions of dollars in embedded taxes we don't even know we're paying
  • Bring offshore corporate dollars back into the U.S. economy

Endorsed by scores of leading economists and supported by a huge and growing grassroots movement, the FairTax Plan could revolutionize the way America pays for itself. In this straight-talking book, Neal Boortz and John Linder show you how it would work, and how you can help make it happen.

The most important book I've owned in a while

Utterly fantastic. This is what political argument should be at all times. well documented, well researched, and tested. This is the how political activism can really make a difference.

The real flaw with the Money magazine article is that all formalized pay structures are set before taxes. The government isn't going to pay military members less because they don't have to pay social security taxes anymore and neither is wal mart, micorsoft, or any other small business owner. This argument is addressed in the book, and I doubt the two reviewers knocking this plan read/listened to this book.

Death to the IRS

If you want to know the best solution to becoming a wealthier nation then read this book. Don't let the goverment trick you into thinking you earned a tax return. You didn't earn a tax return, you earned a living and the goverment took way more then what was due them. And even though your getting some of it back, you are still getting the shaft.

good stuff! Hope it can become reality soon!

This was an interesting book about a workable alternative to income tax and the entire IRS. What a concept. What a waste of time the annual ordeal is! Buy it! Read it! Pass it on. I'm glad one of my senators supports it! I'm voting for him! Keep smiling,
Ron

A real win-win-win solution

Finally an intelligent solution that benefits ALL tax payers, almost all businesses (except tax preparers), the entire US economy, and yes, even the Government. Please do not take my word for it. Listen to The FairTax Book (or read it) yourself. You will never regret it.

Well put together...

All the facts and answers are there. A book everyone should read. Should make it a book for Economics 101 also.

Brilliant and Simple

With all due respect to the previous poster, I looked high and low for additional corroboration to the assertion that the FairTax will drive down wages as he pointed out from an article in Money Magazine, but was unable to find such evidence. I'll certainly take him at his word that at least one writer at Money is against the plan.

On the other hand, many other esteemed economists favor plan and the FairTax will be responsible for at least 10 other beneficial effects to the American economy and us citizens. Further, the FairTax goes to great pains to ensure that the poor and working poor will not be burdened when buying essentials with the introduction of the prebate.

People-- listen to this book! Draw your own conclusions. It's only 5 hours. It's informative in many other ways besides explaining the FairTax (like, for example, why we NEED the FairTax), and it's even somewhat entertaining. Neal Boortz reads the book in a lively manner.

This is one of the most important issues that face our nation. Last time we had faced this kind of an issue we fought a war over it. Now we can solve these problems at the ballot box. But only if we educate ourselves on the subject.

Read + Support!

Let's get our country back!

I'm a direct descendant from the Pocahontas John Rolfe marriage era that helped found our great USA, as I'm sure many many Americans are. Our present government is nothing like the foundations the original colonies were based on & fought so hard for.

Help us get back to our original passions! This plan really makes sense & is growing leaps & bounds in popularity. Be informed--it's a quick read with a wallop! Pass it on when you're done!

Pass the FairTax, but without the rebate

Very good book. Didn't like the idea about giving everybody a rebate check to cover basic necessities, though. Tax everything, and help the helpless directly through already existing programs.
