They say if you can find it, Father Winter himself will grant any wish you have. And Thomasina has an impossible wish: the return of her twin brother, whose death left her family fractured. But once they discover Father Winter’s icy kingdom, Thomasina and Anne quickly realize the Frost Fair isn’t exactly what it seems… and that some wishes never come for free.

It’s a cold winter during the Great Frost of 1683. Thomasina and Anne are the best of friends, one running her father’s sweet shop and the other the apprentice at the family apothecary—together they sell their goods on the frozen River Thames. When a family tragedy turns Thomasina’s world upside down, she is drawn to a mysterious conjuror and the enchanted frost fair. But soon the world of Father Winter threatens to claim everything she holds dear. Will they be able to solve the magical mysteries that surround them?

Several months after the Frost Fair cast its spell over London, best friends Thomasina and Anne are running their own sweet shop – and, truth be told, longing for adventure again. Then the rumours begin – rumours of unexplained storms and catastrophic shipwrecks. And then disaster strikes, and their beloved friend Henry disappears: snatched by a mysterious creature, and dragged down into the depths of the River Thames. Determined to save him, the girls venture into the deep, and discover the enchanting world of the Free Waters: a vast, glittering underwater city, home to mermaids and sirens.

After facing down Father Winter and escaping the Frost Fair, Thomasina and Anne have achieved their dream. Without needing any wishes at all, they’re running their own sweetshop. But magical creatures and otherworldly beings aren’t quite done with them yet, and they soon find their friend Henry kidnapped by an evil Sea Queen and dragged down into the depths of the River Thames. Determined to save him, the girls venture into the deep and discover the enchanting world of the Free Waters.

When best friends Thomasina and Anne hear the same mysterious voice calling to them in the dead of night, they know that Guaire magic must be the source. Obsessed by the legend passed down through generations of the Guaire family, Thomasina's Aunt Morven believes it is her destiny to become the Storm Prince. But to complete her transformation, she must seize control of wild magic and gain power over all magical beings. But it's not just the balance of the magical world that is at stake.
