A Mermaid's Crown

In the beginning, Kalani and Kaleo had the time of their lives; until something spooked her, she smiled at Kalani and hastily swam away without her royal Mermaid Crown. In the first book Legend of Princess Kaleo, she was reunited with Kalani after some time. But, what happened? Seems like Kalani was in hot water, or should I say, in deep?
