"A House of Pomegranates" (1891) is a collection of fairy tales, written by Oscar Wilde, that was published as a second collection for "The Happy Prince and Other Tales" (1888). Wilde once said that this collection was "intended neither for the British child nor the British public."

Contemporary events in Russia, as published in the British press of the time, clearly influenced the plot and characters. The first public performance of Vera; or, The Nihilists was in New York City in 1883. The play was a failure and folded after one week. It remains fascinating as part of a study into the development of Wilde's work.

Written in 1897, while Oscar Wilde was imprisoned in Reading Gaol, De Profundis would become one of his best-known works. "The Ballad of Reading Gaol" was written by Oscar Wilde in France, where he was in exile after his release from Reading Gaol. Wilde had been imprisoned and sentenced to two years hard labor. A hanging took place while Wilde was incarcerated, and the poem is the narrative of the execution.

First published in 1913, more than a decade after the author's death, Charmides and Other Poems is a collection including the long narrative poem "Charmides" (1881), and a number of shorter poems, and sonnets, many written when Wilde was at the height of his powers as an author.
