In order to prevent a war between two neighboring groups, Ozma and Dorothy travel to a remote corner of Oz to lend their wisdom and their aid. Despite their good intentions, the Skeezers and the Flatheads are determined to have their war and imprison the two girls in an enclosed underwater city.

When Glinda informs Ozma, the ruler of Oz, that there is trouble brewing between two distant lands in Oz, Ozma decides to take Dorothy along with her and try to put an end to the problems. Ozma and Dorothy travel first to the land of the Flatheads, where they encounter the evil dictator Su-Dic and are forced to discover they will not be able to make Su-Dic want peace. They then move on to the land of the Skeezers, whose evil queen Coo-ee-ooh is unwilling to make peace as Su-Dic.

Glinda and Dorothy travel to an obscure corner of Oz to prevent a war between the Skeezers and the Flatheads. When the Skeezers imprison them on a glass-covered island at the bottom of a lake, Glinda and Dorothy must call upon their magical friends to rescue them. The last of the original Oz books written by L. Frank Baum, this story was dedicated to his son, Robert.

"Glinda of Oz" is the fourteenth "Land of Oz" book written by L. Frank Baum, published in 1920. It is the last book of the original Oz series. Like most of the Oz books, the plot features a journey through some of the remoter regions of Oz; though in this case the pattern is doubled: Dorothy and Ozma travel to stop a war between the Flatheads and Skeezers; then Glinda and a cohort of Dorothy's friends set out to try to rescue them...
