Well, maybe not always alive—undead might be closer to the mark. As for the classics, there’s a reason we’re enjoying these tales after all these years. I like mixing my listening between long novels whose complexity allows me to immerse myself in a particular world and feel the growing sense of dread the authors intended. With shorter works, it’s more like a series of shocks—they catch you off guard. And not all of my favorite creepy stories are supernatural. Sometimes a mystery, a science fiction tale, or other genre can be so rich in mood that you get real shivers. So, give these listens a try.
