From the creative minds behind Are You Afraid of the Dark (Audible’s Best Listens of 2023), writer Mac Rogers crafts the intriguing, revealing, and captivating tale of the Audible Original, Witness.

Two vastly different worlds collide when an Amish boy, Samuel Lapp, becomes the sole witness to the murder of an undercover cop while visiting Philadelphia with his mother Rachel. Assigned to the case, narcotics detective John Book vows to protect Samuel and uncover the killer.

But when the investigation takes a gut-wrenching turn, the lives of Rachel, Samuel, and Book are bound together in a fight for survival. The trio flees to a place forsaken by modern society to escape the killer’s crosshairs. But hiding cannot protect Book and Rachel from a forbidden longing that threatens to destroy the delicate balance between their worlds. Excellent version of Witness

Superior cast & narration. Loved how well the story was told. No commercials was a nice bonus.

An addicting listen!

This audio drama gave me a renewed appreciation for the 1984 Peter Weir film starring Harrison Ford. While that version has minimal dialogue and lush cinematography, the podcast does a tasteful job of expanding the interior lives of its characters. It’s a perfect companion piece.

Paramount, please make more of these projects. I loved every second of this.

I really loved this

They did such a good job putting this together. I vaguely remembered the movie (liked it, though it's been years). This brought so much of it back, and really felt like a deeper, unique take on the story -- more intimate with all the characters. The production values are so impressive, too. It's a genuinely engaging listen, so well directed and produced.

A Superb Performance of a Terrific Screenplay

The plot twists in this updated gritty city versus patriarchal pastoral culture novel highlight human wants, needs, goodness and depravity. Respect, caring, loyalty and love manage to finally triumph over evil to win the day. The movie is free to Prime subscribers and needless to say I watched it again nearly 40 years after its debut . The Audible version fills in details not in the movie. I highly recommend both the Audible listening and watching the movie. Two home runs!!

Pretty darn good and I’m super critical LOL

I automatically hated John Book because it wasn’t Harrison Ford but overall, the casting was very good. I liked how it went more in-depth than the movie — but also quoted a few lines verbatim from the film. I could’ve done with less taking God’s name in vain. And going from Lancaster to Stroudsburg? Ridiculous and implausible. It’s 2 hours by car so by buggy, what is that, 6 years?

Would like to see (hear?) more about the Naomi/Caleb the creep storyline.
